For more than four decades, the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus has used the power of music to entertain, inspire, and advocate for equality. What began as a chorus has grown into one of San Diego’s most respected LGBTQ+ organizations, creating a welcoming community where voices unite in harmony both on and off the stage. As the Chorus embarks on an exciting new season, its continued success is being shaped by leaders whose unique talents complement one another while sharing a common purpose.

In this special series, The WORD sits down with three of the people helping guide SDGMC into its next chapter. Let’s kick things off with Artistic Director Steve Milloy shares his vision for creating unforgettable musical experiences and why passion remains at the heart of every performance.

Lim), the production explores family, identity, generational trauma, and healing through a contemporary score that began as an intimate collection of songs. Over the past five years, MILCK, co-composer and lyricist Adrianne Gonzalez (AG), book writer Sam Chanse, director Jess McLeod, and Artistic Producing Director Eric Keen-Louie have shaped those songs into a deeply personal story that ultimately became something much larger than any one person’s experience.
