yT16 is honored to have Kristopher Apple (violin) and Harmony Negrin (harp) performing this year. They will be collaborating to provide some beautiful, live music to float across our ears. Here is more information about both of them.
Harmony Negrin began music lessons at the age of five and has been on the stage ever since. Her career as a harpist started at nine years old when she began playing for weddings and community events. She attended a charter arts high school, where she emphasized in music studies and developed a passion for dance. She went on to graduate from Saint Mary’s College of California with the Le Fevre Performing Arts Award where she majored in Dance. She has performed for choreographers such as Janice Garrett, Dana Lawton, Rogelio Lopez, and Jia Wu. In 2012 Harmony was featured in the award winning dance film “Chicken Boy.” She has been involved in numerous performances, ranging from a Kate Mitchel fashion show to movement theater installation art with Tyler Eash. She recently moved to Southern California and is now juggling her passion for the performing arts with a career in Finance. She is looking forward to her second year with the wonderful collaboration that is YouTurn.
Kristopher Apple is a violinist, composer, performer, and improviser working at the intersection of music, dance, text, and digital media. His music is a regular feature of the San Diego arts scene where he works closely with choreographers, writers, directors, composers, visual artists, and software developers to integrate music and interdisciplinary performance practices. He is a highly sought after artist who provides music, dance accompaniment, and production support to numerous colleges, universities, dance companies, and theater companies throughout San Diego including San Diego State University, University of California San Diego, and Palomar College.
Apple's work is informed by his ongoing investigation and interaction with dance, theater, poetry, and music practices in collaborative performance making and ensemble improvisation. He was a member of LIVE Collaborative Dance Theater from 2008–2014 and a co-founder of the collaborative music and dance ensemble Odd and Even. He has been featured as a composer and performer with several dance and theater companies including IMAGOmoves, Somebodies Dance Theater, Little Known Dance Theater, The PGK Dance Project, San Diego Dance Theater, Wallpaper Performance Company, TranscenDANCE Youth Arts Project, and Animal Cracker Conspiracy. He is a contributing composer and violinst for INCOMINGRADIO.ORG, and performs regularly as a violinist for musical theater, avant-jazz composer Nathan Hubbard, and computer musician Chris Warren. Apple is a member of the Grey Pony Writer's Guild and International Guild of Musicians in Dance. He holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Art degrees from San Diego State University where he studied violin and interdisciplinary performance.
