Grossmont College, congratulations!!!
>>> via Mission Times Courier: "The brand-new Performing and Visual Arts Center (PVAC) at Grossmont College has been lying in wait for the bustle of live concerts, dances, plays and other events. That time has finally arrived, 18 months into the COVID-19 pandemic. The $44 million PVAC building broke ground in 2017 and held its ribbon-cutting on May 20,2021. The 39,000-square-foot facility will serve as an instructional and performance venue for the theater, dance and music programs, and also is the new home for the Hyde Art Gallery. The 53-foot-tall structure is the tallest instructional facility on campus with a 390-seat multipurpose theater replete with one of the largest stages in the county, an orchestra pit and balcony. With dressing rooms, a green room, a costume area and a makeup classroom, it will serve as a learning laboratory for student performers, technicians and designers in the Theatre Arts program..."

NEW PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER SET IN SAN DIEGO
Physician-author, Bernard Leo Remakus’ latest publication is a psychological thriller, titled The Paraclete. The tale is set in San Diego, LA, and several other California municipalities, and features characters representing law enforcement agencies from each of the locations.
The novel’s main character is Father Paul Thielemans, a renowned Catholic theologian. Several days after Thielemans meets a parish priest and 13-year-old altar boy at a church in San Diego, the altar boy dresses in the vestments he wears while serving Mass and jumps to his death from the top of the Coronado Bridge. When Thielemans learns about the su***de and discovers the boy killed himself to avoid any further sexual abuse by his parish priest, the theologian blames himself for not having recognized their pedophilic relationship.
Distraught, Thielemans seeks the advice of an expert on pe******ia, an elderly priest who has spent his entire life working as a paraclete, or advocate of impaired priests. Aided by a better understanding of sexual predators in the priesthood and the accidental discovery of a naturally-occurring seed that contains a poison more lethal than ricin, the theologian returns to San Diego and visits the parish priest.
Thielemans’ visit sets off a veritable epidemic of unexplained deaths among pedophilic priests in America. Discovering a pattern to the unexpected deaths and suspecting the theologian is a serial killer, an LA-based FBI agent, whose husband was sexually abused by a priest as a child, finds herself in the middle of a moral dilemma. Watching from the sideline is a beautiful nun who is having a love affair with the theologian.
To date, The Paraclete has received five-star reviews from prominent authors. Julie Davey, Professor Emeritus of Journalism at Fullerton College, writes: “In his latest, most powerful and timely book, The Paraclete, Bernard Leo Remakus completely captures, transports and educates the reader both psychologically and globally into the Catholic Church's leadership and history. Masterfully written, this is Dr. Remakus’ greatest novel, EVER! It is a true masterpiece.”
Author Tammy Ruggles states: “The Paraclete by Bernard Leo Remakus is a chilling, engrossing psychological thriller that won't let you go once you start reading. The writing is deliberate, convincing, and quite an immersive read, with a few surprises thrown in. The treatment of the provocative subject matter is scathing without being exploitative or maudlin. Fans of Primal Fear, Doubt, and Spotlight will love this unnerving but satisfying page-burner.”
Author Romauld Dzemo adds: “The Paraclete by Bernard Leo Remakus is a spellbinding psychological thriller with strong and well-developed religious themes. Remakus is a gifted storyteller and the author has the gift of creating characters that instantly capture the sympathy of readers, putting them in dilemmas that make the story even more captivating. This novel is a page-turner.”
The Paraclete is Dr. Remakus’ fifth novel. His earlier medical novel, The Lame Duck, won a bronze medal in the 2019 Readers’ Favorite International Book Awards.
Dr. Remakus has also published three medical books and one screenplay, and has authored over 200 articles that have been published in medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association, and Medical Economics. From 1999 to 2012, he was the featured columnist and member of the editorial advisory board of Internal Medicine World Report. His column in that publication was one of the longest-running and most widely-read physician-written columns in America.
The Paraclete is now available as a hardcover, paperback, and ebook on the amazon.com and Barnes and Noble websites:
