🖼️ HOLA FRIDA, the heartfelt animated tribute to Frida Kahlo, opens this Friday, September 12 at Digital Gym Cinema.
Little Frida is the sunlight of her small Mexican village, where she spends her days carousing through the market, befriending a neighborhood street dog, and playing class clown. When a polio diagnosis casts a cloud over her spirit, she is forced into the solitude of her bedroom. But it’s there that she finds solace in her imagination, a world brimming with color, flowers, and possibilities. When she is finally well enough to reenter the world, it’s this inner spirit that guides her through the hardships in her life.

Today's the day (Sat, Aug 9)! Enjoy the Barrio Art Crawl & then head on over to CHICANO PARK for the opening night of our CHICANO PARK FILM series w/ the screening of the now classic REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES starring America Ferrera, Lupe Ontiveros, & George Lopez. Written by Josefina Lopez.
This screening will be preceded by a local short film, Radio Pulso del Barrio (RPDB) Documentary, directed by Aleida Lomeli.. "a snapshot of a prolific neighborhood and the small group of activists fighting to preserve it."

Music by DJ RAMBO starts at 6pm, plus FREE Palomitas y more sorpresas! Short Film & special guests start around 7:15pm & feature will screen until 9:30pm. We'll have chairs but also you can bring your blankets, snacks, y tus amigos porfa! Let’s gather to celebrate our culture and our stories.

Free movie TONIGHT (6:30pm, Thurs, July 31st)! Consulado General de México en San Diego and Digital Gym Cinema present "Ndatu Savi – La Suerte del Agua"

This amazing documentary profiles two rivers and a sacred saltwater lagoon system in the indigenous Mixtec, mestizo, and Afro-descendant communities in the Oaxaca’s coastal region in Mexico. For indigenous Mixtec communities upstream, the fate of water is in the hands of gods and rain goddesses that dwell in caves and mountains. For mestizo farmers and populations in urban centers, everything revolves around water scarcity and pollution. For Afro Mexican fishermen downstream, the crucial issue is the quantity of fish and the complex relationship between river runoff and ocean saltwater. The Luck of Water delves into this struggle and the threat that these communities face.
