Activist San Diego 's in-the-works, full-power FM station. The signal will transmit out of Descanso, with a parallel Internet radio stream and studios based in City Heights. ASD is a 12-year-old 501c3 with a rock-solid mission of networking for social justice. HELP BUY AN ANTENNA: The San Diego Community Radio Project is conducting a targeted fundraiser for an essential piece of hardware to get on the air: an antenna, which will cost just $17,000 -- and we hope it will have your name on it. We were heartbroken with the loss of KLSD; we had hopes with Liberty One; Is San Diego County ready for this NCE (non-commercial, educational, listener- supported) endeavor lead by this progressives? Come find out more, creating a commons!

Activist San Diego is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded, by the Federal Communication Commission, a Construction Permits for a new, Full-Power radio station in East County -San Diego. The DESCANSO station is the first of two stations which we applied for. The second station is in Ramona and we fully expect to be granted that liscense as well. These two stations will bring education, information (including emergency information), community affairs, entertainment and cultural programs to areas where no such public broadcasting service has existed before. Potentially up to 1 million people around East County and in greater San Diego County will be able to receive this signal and programming. The project will also give voice to communities and organizations that have been excluded from the airwaves. The development of the San Diego Community Radio Project is on a fast-paced course and we are confident that we will be broadcasting programs by 2013. While we are awaiting final approval from Federal Communications Commission on the RAMONA station, the DESCANSO STATION has been approved and it is only community funding that keeps the project from moving forward now! We have taken several key steps in advancing the project by coming up with an engineering design and by applying for major grants. As the next most important step, we are seeking the community’s participation in the realization of the project. We are seeking the wisdom, the volunteer work, fund raising efforts and specific ideas from the talent that abound in our community!

YOU HAVE BEEN SUBSCRIBED FOR YEARS ~ BUT HAVE NOT NOT KEPT UP WITH YOUR DUES!
ASD has had 2000 subscribers, but less just 200 donors! Please JOIN ASAP and vote in our June 18th elections too.

Our Critical Need: Activist San Diego needs your membership and your donation to build a communications hub. ASD has the CONSTRUCTION PERMIT from the FCC for the last full-power (non-profit, educational) FM radio frequency in San Diego County.

The Solution: There is nothing, nothing, which could help transform the political climate in San Diego County, more than a potent progressive information radio station encouraging civic involvement in social affairs. Imagine programming on local campaigns, non-profit causes, health, the law, education, organics, youth, local news, progressive culture, LGBT, current affairs, psychology, women's rights, voting/democracy, labor, border and international affairs… in sum, giving San Diego all of what Pacifica and Amy Goodman and been promoting in other cities for years. People need good information to be able to do the right thing.

Your Role: Become a member and be part of the solution -- help us inform and build the progressive community. Your monthly donation is easy; automatically deducted from checking or credit card. Give us a $20, $10, $5 a month (or $2 month, everyone can afford that!) will allow ASD to fund an organizer and buy critical radio equipment! Do your part, become an ASD & KNSJ Founding Member at www.KNSJ.org or make a secure donation at https://npo1.networkforgood.org/Donate/Donate.aspx?npoSubscriptionId=2821

THANK you in advance!

The Activist Board

It’s on the way! The San Diego Community Radio Project and Activist San Diego have joined hands to bring people-powered, progressive FM radio to San Diego County. Our new station will be non-commercial, educational, listener-supported public radio.
