Blue Barn headed across the border for our first production day with Medical Device Components. As part of our multi-facility spanning brand project with the company, we kicked things off at their factory in Mexicali.

It was a “mild” 105 degrees, but we didn’t let the heat stop us from getting creative with some fancy drone work in the blazing sun.

One of the advantages of being a bilingual production company is that we can take on projects like this, even when the client themselves have limited ability in either language. AND especially when the border guards start asking questions about the equipment in the back of the SUV 😬 (activate your global entry cards, folks!)

This was also our first partnership with the good people at .co a great Mexico-based production team. Gracias amigos!

Nine years ago today, our team took home Emmy gold for our national commercial spot with Swiss Army. Blue Barn had officially launched a few years prior, but this was the shot in the arm, and validation, we needed to keep pushing our company forward.

The project was the largest we had ever taken on at that point, and forced us to quickly level up our production process, and bring in some new talent—who we still work with to this day.

Of course, watching the spot debut live on Monday Night Football is one of our proudest memories. True to our partner Vic’s form, he had somehow convinced the client to gift us three individual watches featured in the commercial. If you ever catch our producer, Carlos, on set, he’s usually still wearing his.

“INOX Forged to Resist” was a pivotal moment in Blue Barn’s history; it felt like the possibilities for our little company were truly just beginning. Thank you to everyone who played a role in making it happen, and to VSA for taking a chance on a small team from San Diego!

Summer in San Diego has us thinking back to our production with the . It was a combined effort with the Gaslamp Quarter, City of San Diego, and MTS that involved a lot of prep, coordination, onscreen talent, and road closures (sorry AM commuters!)

The sun is out for the long weekend! How’s your hair? We kicked off a new partnership with earlier this year supporting the launch of their brand new hair care products. Nulastin is already an established name in hair treatment and growth, and now that expertise is being packaged into a shampoo and conditioner set as part of your normal routine.

The Nulastin team traveled to San Diego for our 2-day production that covered videos and photos, product shots, products in use, testimonials, and of course, beauty shots.

The models were so happy with the effects of the product, they couldn’t help but smile for every shot! ☀️

Our friends at DRS Daylight Solutions approached us with a request to update their HR recruiting video, but they didn't just want a refresh; they wanted a completely new approach to the video. We pitched the idea of sharing the personal stories of select team members to showcase the diversity of people and interests that work together under the same roof. The result was a fun video that took us surfing, baking, motorcycle racing, and even into the world of martial arts.

The group at DRS are some of the smartest folks you'll meet, and they have great hobbies too!

You may have noticed a certain 'glow' coming from our crew lately... Our team recently collaborated with Summer Fridays to produce product launch content for the new Jet Leg Eye Patches. Of course, their team wouldn't let us wrap the day without trying them for ourselves, and now we can't put them down! Not that our rejuvenated, youthful-looking faces are complaining!

For this shoot, we captured interviews and product knowledge footage at one of our favorite locations: the gorgeous Milk Studios in Hollywood.

It's Testicular Cancer Awareness month, and we partnered with our friends at to produce their latest campaign. The goal was to bring some levity to an otherwise heavy topic. Guys shouldn't feel embarrassed to check themselves once a month. So take some time to give the boys a look over once in a while. It can potentially save your life!

When the client loves the edit so much they make it part of the closing ceremony… Our team has been covering the annual ICAM event in Vienna Austria for our long-tome client AACSB. During the multi-day event we captured onsite interviews and event coverage. Our editor created a short highlight film in 24 hours, it was meant to stay internal but sometimes it all just clicks and the CEO of the organization asked to include it in their closing remarks!

We love when we surpass expectations, and when our work gets shown on the big screen! 🤩

We always leap at the chance to work with other artists, especially those in a different field. So when the San Diego Symphony called, we knew this was a do-it-any-cost type of production! Our team produced a video series to build excitement for the newly renovated Jacobs Music Center in Downtown San Diego. The project had stretched on since the COVID years, and music lovers from all over the city were ready for the grand reopening.

The videos captured the excitement from the music director, Rafael Payare, the orchestra, and patrons. Of course, the real star of the show was the music itself!

We have very sad news to share this week about our dear friend and co-founder, Vic Alavi. This week, he passed away, leaving a significant hole in our hearts. He was a generous, creative, loving person who drew people in. Many people wondered about his mysterious accent and were drawn close by his ineffable charm. At Blue Barn, he was our charisma guy, always chatting with clients and consulting, providing solutions and insights in the friendliest and most relaxed way, which is why he was the face of our business, the first person clients spoke to. A perfect position for someone who enjoyed life as fully as possible.

Many will remember Vic for his convertibles, his dog Cheeba, his signature Kangol hats, his personal style, and his ever-present humming. Whether he was playing the blues on his guitar or making videos, he was an artist in every way. He will be sorely missed, and we are forever grateful for his presence, inspiration, and for showing us how to be better humans.
