This is a developing story….

Thank you and San Diego for taking the time to showcase our ongoing collaboration with and .

Over the past year, we’ve been given the keys to power an engine for platforming the undiscovered and celebrated visual storytellers that prove that film photography is far from dead.

With close to 20 photographer features, dug deep into the distinct subcultures, identities, and styles that make up the San Diego photography community—and yet, it feels like we’ve just broke ground.

Twin brothers Jeremy and Elliot Warren vividly remember when their father, Art Warren, shared photos from his scientific expedition to Antarctica with their elementary school class. At 25, shortly after earning his Master of Physics at UCLA, Art set sail for Antarctica to study the aurora australis in 1958.

When he died in 2020, he left behind two generations of family milestones preserved on film, along with images from his trip to Antarctica, that served as evidence of the incredible stories he told. The photos were developed onto projector slides meant to be shared and talked over.

Jeremy and his son Elias, who live in San Diego, have recently begun digitizing their share of the forgotten frames with

The Warrens are looking forward to digging deeper into the remaining bags of photos and excavating even more treasures. What they’ve seen so far is just the tip of the iceberg.

For photographer , who spent her childhood visiting her grandmother just blocks from Chicano Park’s towering murals, Barrio Logan has long been part of her story: a place that represents generations of resistance and solidarity.

Her pictures, too, are parts of that canon. She photographs not only to remember that or to express her artistic vision but also to preserve the history of her own community.

She did just that at this year’s Barrio Logan Día de Mu***os, presented by . The all-day celebration, hosted by the and , was a stunning display of community and culture right at the epicenter of San Diego’s Chicano community.

“This time, I wanted to slow down and truly feel the day, to live in it, not just document it. That’s also why I chose to shoot on film. Film forces me to move with care, to look, breathe, and shoot with love and intention.

I must’ve walked up and down the street ten times, and each pass felt completely different. The energy kept shifting from the sound of drums and laughter to the smell of copal and food, to quiet moments of people standing in front of altars. Everywhere I looked, there was beauty!”

Our mission is to inspire action with honest storytelling that uplifts our community.

And our most important value we hold is honesty — we believe that as professional communicators, we do the community a disservice when we shy away from hard truths.

And the truth right now is that San Diego is threatened by sinister forces. When we see community members being dragged out of their vehicles in front of their childrens’ schools, ripped from their families right before their eyes, we can’t call it anything else.

As we continue the work of uplifting the community, we also mourn this death of decency and vow to stand alongside our community partners and our neighbors as we work to fight against these injustices.

They may not want to show their faces, but we will show ours.

Because we are proud to stand beside our friends, loved ones and neighbors to defend against tyranny and hate.

There are many brilliant people around us who are leading this fight. If you want to know more about ways to get involved in this moment, reach out and we will do our best to connect you to resources and community leaders standing up for what is right.
