We can’t believe it has been two months now since our fantastic visit to Prince Edward Island, Canada. From red dirt to red yarn, and all the gorgeous colors in between (fields, farms, mills and yarns) – we loved all of it. And incredibly gracious people every time you turn around. Thanks so much to Margaret Knit Pickers PEI for being one of the many things that made our visit a fantastic one. The only thing we missed was a hockey game (it was glorious summertime, after all) – but we will definitely try to head back for that one. Keep your elbows up, Canada!

Another great day Milling About in the Hudson Valley. We had a great visit with Meehan and Chris at their farm Patchwork Pastures in the Hyde Park area of New York. A true family farm with sheep, chickens and their own little fiber shed for you to purchase yarn and other fiber products.

Nothing like Milling About in the Hudson Valley. Yesterday we stopped by Llama Alpaca Goat Farm Hyde Park, NY and met up with our good friend Andrea and had a nice walk with her friends, Ringo and Twist. Elara and Emily said walking the Alpacas, is a must visit if you are ever in the area.
Thanks Andrea!

Had a great talk yesterday Milling About, with historian Eddie Moran at the Ulster County Archives. What knowledgeable young man and so grateful to the Ulster County Historical Society for connecting us.

We had a great day Milling About Hudson River Maritime Museum “Museum” might sound dry to some, but not this one (yes, we got the pun). Carefully crafted exhibits include mini lighthouses, “Tides of War,” going back to the American Revolutionary period, a really cool color-coded canal plaque (with lines going all the way across New York State), the Queen of the Hudson, a riverwalk with an unbelievable “Sandy tide watermark came to here” line, and boating and marine regalia with a presentation quality not often seen. Not only that, but our wonderful hosts, John and Emma, arranged for us to tour the ship building/woodworking workshop, and a special treat – a conversation with Rory, the ship captain of the Clearwater. Any Pete Seeger fans out there? And even if not, fans of a beautifully clean Hudson River might want to look up the backstory on this one. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to take a spin on the Solaris, the solar powered boat that features a lighthouse cruise, music cruise and meditational cruise, among others. We might take a couples sailing class on our next adventure though.
