The baseball season is almost over and if you are a Time Warner Cable subscriber you likely haven’t seen one Padres game from the comfort of your own home. My name is Scott Sibley, and I am beyond frustrated that the Padres aren’t on Time Warner Cable. I am a lifelong Padres fan and, in this case, unfortunate longtime Time Warner Cable subscriber. I have contacted Time Warner Cable many times to t
ry and get them to broadcast Padres games but they don’t listen. If you are equally frustrated about not seeing the Padres on TV, it’s time to do something about this. I am forming a coalition of Time Warner Cable subscribers who just want to see the Padres on TV. My coalition is called the Fan Alliance for Padres Games on Time Warner and the goal is to simply find ways to get Time Warner Cable back to the negotiations with Fox Sports San Diego. By joining the group, we will write letters to local politicians, Time Warner Cable executives, editorials to local media, social media, and let our unified presence be known in an effort to pressure all parties to get a deal done for the sake of loyal Padres fans. Currently, about 30 percent of San Diego County can’t see Padres games on TV. If you are a San Diego sports fan, you also need to know that Time Warner Cable is more interested in airing a Los Angeles sports teams than broadcasting our hometown Padres. Time Warner Cable has started a regional sports network called Time Warner Cable Sports Net and they’ve invested millions of dollars to air Los Angeles Lakers basketball and Galaxy soccer games. They have not made a similar investment in the Padres and the team’s fans. Time Warner needs to know this isn’t Los Angeles, and that San Diegans deserve to see OUR team. I have met with Fox Sports San Diego executives and they are supportive of our efforts and this coalition.
