They spent 13 hours in an operating room. Hours when the outside world ceased to exist, and everything that mattered was there... between life and death.
Outside, a family cried, prayed and hugged each other, waiting for some news. I knew that every minute was decisive.
And then… after hours that seemed like days, I took a deep breath, took off my gloves, and walked toward them. I looked the mother in the eyes and told her: - It's going to be okay.
In that moment I saw tears fall, heard a deep sigh, and felt something that no amount of money can buy: the certainty of having made a difference.
Medicine is made of technique, but also of love, faith and courage. Today I am not just a surgeon... I am part of the story of someone who got a new chance at life. If you have read this far, leave me a comment.

Being a firefighter means facing fire, danger and fear every day. But being a single father of two girls is the greatest challenge (and also the greatest gift) of my life. Today my daughters turn 3 years old. 🎂👧👧
As I put on my uniform for work, I know that I'm not just fighting to save strangers... I'm also fighting to be an example to them. And even without big parties, without expensive gifts, I know that a simple “happy birthday” would be enough to light up their eyes and fill their hearts with joy.
