🌊FORAGING FOR UNI ON THE SONOMA COAST🌊
– – –
📍 Sonoma Coast, CA
– – –
💭 Waking up at 2 AM to drive 2.5 hours for sea urchins sounds slightly unhinged, but this has been on my bucket list for years and it completely lived up to the hype🤭

I joined Fork in the Path for one of their sea urchin foraging classes and learned that harvesting purple sea urchins 🎣 can actually support kelp forest restoration efforts along the California coast! Between scrambling through tide pools 🪸at negative tide, learning how to responsibly harvest urchins, and opening them fresh on the beach, it felt equal parts food adventure and ecology lesson🤯

The highlight was obviously eating uni that had been harvested just minutes before🥣, but I also loved learning about the bigger picture of ocean conservation from two incredibly knowledgeable instructors who care deeply about protecting these ecosystems.

One of the coolest experiences I’ve had this year🤍 Fork in the Path has everything from fermentation classes to mushroom 🍄‍🟫foraging, so definitely check them out:)
– – –
🎟️ Classes start at $75
🎣 Take home up to 35 sea urchins per person
🪪 CA fishing license required (16+)
🌊 Expect to get wet and be up VERY early
📅 Offered throughout the year during negative tides

🍴THE NEWEST DOWNTOWN SJ RESTAURANT🍴
— — —
📍 STRĀTA • Downtown San Jose, CA
— — —
💭The team behind some of Downtown San Jose’s most beloved spots - Paper Plane , MINIBOSS , Alter Ego | Restaurant & Cocktail Bar , Still O.G. - Vinyl Bar , and Eos & Nyx - just opened Strāta, a new chef-driven restaurant centered around layers of flavor, technique, and hospitality🤍

While most people know them for their $75 tasting menu, don’t overlook the à la carte menu and happy hour🥂

My favorites: the parmesan rind cultured butter with milk bread🍞, rockfish crudo🐟, seasonal salad🥗, dry-aged burger🍔, and a soft serve🍦 that was so so good!!

Happy Hour (Tues-Fri, 4-6pm):
• 50% off burgers & flatbreads
• 50% off select wine, beer & well drinks
• $1 oysters while supplies last

🎳 WHERE TO EAT AND PLAY IN SAN MATEO 🎳
– – –
📍 Pinstripes • San Mateo, CA
– – –
💭 I initially thought this spot was just a bowling alley, and honestly that’s doing it such a disservice! is bowling, bocce, live music, brunch, AND a full made-from-scratch Italian-American menu all in one spot 🍝🎳

We came in expecting bowling-alley food and ended up genuinely surprised! The Chicago fries loaded with herb-crusted prime rib, the chop salad, the signature wings, and the chicken avocado club pizza were all solid and the perfect meal as we bowled.

The Summer Pass was also just released: $60 per person for unlimited bowling, every single day, all summer long + shoes included.

Whether it’s weeknight strikes, weekend brunch, or a night out with the family, this is your low-effort, high-payoff summer plan ☀️

🎶 FESTIVAL NAPA VALLEY IS COMING 🎶
– – –
📍 • Napa Valley, CA
– – –
💭 I had no idea this existed and now I can’t stop thinking about it! Festival Napa Valley is a series of world-class music events🎶 happening right in our backyard and most people have never heard of it🤯

Every summer this incredible nonprofit takes over Napa Valley with performances across stunning wineries and iconic venues, and a ton of it is completely free!🍷🎻

This July (4th–19th) the lineup includes jazz, opera, ballet, a live orchestra film screening🎞️, and so much more across some of the most beautiful settings in wine country🍷

I got a preview recently with world-renowned violinist and pianist at the in SF and I was not prepared for how good it was going to be🥹

Some events are ticketed, some are completely free, but either way, there’s something for everyone!

– – –
📍 • san francisco, ca [invite!]
– – –
💭 Nopa has been feeding this city since 2006 and there’s a reason it’s still one of the most loved restaurants in SF👀

It’s been a place where neighbors become regulars, celebrations turn into traditions, and local farmers, ranchers, winemakers, and producers are woven into every meal🤍

So in honor of 20 years, here are 20 things I love about this spot👇🏼

1. Twenty years of serving San Francisco
2. The warm glow of the open kitchen
3. Their commitment to local ingredients
4. Supporting Bay Area farmers and producers
5. Actually recognizing those partners on the menu
6. Seasonal dishes that evolve throughout the year
7. The rosemary focaccia
8. House-cured coppa
9. Herbed ricotta and roasted strawberry mostarda
10. Warm goat cheese with blueberries
11. Wood-baked fava beans with oregano pesto
12. That impossibly juicy pork chop
13. Wood-fired cooking
14. Thoughtful cocktails
15. A wine program built around great producers
16. Generous hospitality
17. The late-night energy
18. The sense of community in the dining room
19. The way every meal feels both special and comfortable
20. Being a place people keep coming back to, year after year
