Jaundice isn’t always harmless.
It’s brushed off too often.
“Just put the baby in the sun.”
“Give it time, they’ll be fine.”
But sometimes… they’re not.
Sometimes jaundice isn’t just a yellow tint.
It’s a baby too weak to eat.
Too sleepy to wake.
Too fragile to fight.
Sometimes it means heel pokes and light therapy.
Hospital stays and silent fear.
Watching your baby lay under those bili lights with nothing but a diaper on, goggles over their eyes, and a body that looks far too small for that kind of battle.
I know it’s common.
But that doesn’t make it easy.
And it definitely doesn’t make it harmless.
To the parents being told to “wait it out” while your gut is screaming something’s off..
advocate louder.
Jaundice is usually treatable, but when ignored, it can become dangerous.
Trust your instincts.
Because yellow isn’t always “normal.”
And some babies need more than just a window and a little sunlight.
