No one prepares you for watching your dog get old 🥹
One day they’re your puppy, and somehow you blink and there’s gray on their face, their steps are a little slower, and you’d give anything to make time slow down too
I wrote this poem a while ago. I’ve always loved writing, and when I shared a little about it on here, so many of you told me you wanted me to post it. I wanted to record it sooner, but after everything we’ve been through with Mac lately, I honestly couldn’t get through it without bawling my eyes out
Loving a senior dog is such a privilege, but no one really talks about the anticipatory grief that can come with it. Being so grateful they’re still here while simultaneously wishing you could stop time
So here’s your reminder to take the videos. Take the extra walk. Let them sniff a little longer. Memorize the ordinary moments.
Because somehow, they’re never with us long enough 😭
