Introducing our August AiR, Nic Dalager. Producing her first solo show, Nic hopes that each piece will remind you that play is powerful, weirdness should be celebrated, and it’s okay to not have it all figured out.

Join us for this visual feast on August 23rd, 5-8 PM!

Nic is a visual artist based in San Francisco, California. She received her B.A. in Emergent Digital Practices from University of Denver, inspired by the intersection of art and technology.

Currently working professionally as a graphic designer, her passion is deeply rooted in storytelling through art. She hopes to continue expanding her creative practice through exploring multidisciplinary avenues of artistic expression. Nic dreams up hueful compositions in both digital and traditional mediums. Inspired by color therapy and healing through art as a meditative practice, her current body of work utilizes surrealism and animation to explore themes on mental health, existentialism, and the human experience. Her work aims to expose the vibrancy of existence, even through times of turbulence and strife.

There’s no experience necessary, no right or wrong way to create, and absolutely no such thing as a mistake. All of our perfectly imperfect masterpieces definitely deserve a spot on the fridge.

Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring an old magazine or two. Come as you are — curious, weird, tired, excited, open — and leave with art that’s full of heart (and maybe glitter).

Introducing our second July AiR, dancer and arts organizer Kelsey McFalls! Collaborating with Alysia Chang, the duo designed “Consume” to create accessible and engaging entry points into difficult conversations about sustainability by blending science, art, fashion, and community participation.

Kelsey McFalls (she/her) is a freelance dancer, development consultant, and grant writer. She has performed with Smuin Contemporary Ballet, Amy Seiwert’s Imagery, PARA.MAR Dance Theatre, Sacramento Ballet, Ballare Carmel, and American Repertory Ballet, among others. Kelsey collaborates with artists and mid-sized arts nonprofits across the U.S., offering fundraising support, development consulting, and project management. She is passionate about bringing even the most ambitious creative ideas to life and is constantly rethinking how art is presented, supported, and experienced. Her ultimate goal is to contribute to projects where artists can fully explore their visions and audiences are offered unexpected, meaningful opportunities to engage with creative work.

Introducing one of our July AiRs, fashion designer and dancer Alysia Chang! Presenting her first immersive, multidisciplinary art experience with collaborator Kelsey McFalls, “Consume” is designed to spark reflection on consumer waste, environmental pollution, and climate change through dance, interactive installations, and hands-on workshops.

Alysia (she/her) is a dancer, designer and educator. She holds a BFA in Dance from SUNY Purchase and recently completed her MFA in Fashion Design from the Academy of Art University. She has danced with the Sacramento Ballet, Metropolitan Opera, SF Opera, Dawson Dance, Smuin Ballet, SFDanceworks, Radiocity and Oakland Ballet. With a passion for design instilled in her from a young age, she most recently was a Presidential Scholar at AAU, choreographing and creating the designs for her MFA thesis collection “V”. Alysia is also the winner of the CCSF Fashion Sphere Competition and has created costumes for Ziru Dance, Amy Seiwert’s Imagery and most recently Oakland Ballet’s “Angel Island Project” premiering at the Paramount Theatre. Alysia currently works as a fashion designer in the Bay Area and teaches for Berkeley Ballet Theatre and Celebrity Dance. Photo By:
