✨Steal my 1 week Itinerary in Peru 🇵🇪✨
Day 1 - We flew from SFO to LAX to LIM and then to CUZ. Instead of staying in Cusco on our first day, we took a private shuttle to Ollantaytambo and stayed there to better acclimate ourselves and reduce our risk of getting altitude sickness.
Day 2 - We had a private driver take us to an all-day Sacred Valley Tour. We visited Chinchero, Moray, Maras, and Pisac. We made sure not to do any strenuous activities since we are still trying to acclimate to the high elevation.
Day 3 - We woke up at 5 AM and took the Inca Rail from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. Went shopping, explored restaurants, and got a massage in this cute little town before heading up to Machu Picchu the next day.
Day 4 - Finally visited Machu Picchu! We got our tickets months in advance with our travel package from Inca Rail | Machu Picchu Train . We entered the site at 6:30 AM before the sun was even up and before the huge crowds came. Highly recommend getting there early! We were done by around 9:00 AM and went back to Aguas Calientes to eat breakfast and then go to the Butterfly Zoo 🦋. In the afternoon, we took the Inca Rail again to go back to Ollantaytambo, pick up our luggage from the storage, and then took a private shuttle from Ollantaytambo to Cusco!
Day 5 to 7 - Stayed in Cusco for the rest of the trip. Since Cusco has the highest elevation out of all the places we visited so far, all we did was rest and relax on our first day there…😅 Do not underestimate the altitude! So many delicious restaurants and shops to choose from. We definitely spent a lot of 💰 there, so be careful if you’re on a budget!
