A glowing balloon floating a mile down — and it's completely real. 🌊✨

Meet the pigbutt worm (Chaetopterus pugaporcinus). No bigger than a hazelnut,
this tiny worm has a hugely inflated middle and floats free in the deep
midwater — unlike its tube-dwelling relatives. It feeds by casting out a cloud
of glowing mucus, and flashes bright blue when threatened.

The strangest part? Scientists still don't know if it's a giant larva or a
fully grown adult. 👁

A giant yellow gummy bear… five kilometers down. 🌊💛

sea cucumber nearly two feet long. That tall fin on its back may work like a

A ghost drifting in the deep — or a giant plastic bag, alive. 🌊👻

Meet Deepstaria: a rare, giant jellyfish whose thin translucent bell spreads
into a floating sheet up to 2 feet wide. That net across it? Its feeding
canals. With almost no stinging tentacles, it hunts differently — it billows
open like a bag and folds shut around its prey. And a bright-red creature often
lives inside its bell.

It looks like a flower on the seafloor — but it's a living trap. 🌊🪤

Meet the predatory tunicate (Megalodicopia). Most "sea squirts" gently filter
seawater… but this one hunts. Its mouth is a huge gaping hood, anchored to a
deep canyon wall and held wide open. It never moves — it just lets the current
carry prey inside, then SNAPS shut and digests the victim alive.

Then the hood opens once more. Patient. Silent. Hungry. 👁

A blind lobster with a claw bigger than its whole body. 🌊🦞

Meet the terrible claw lobster (Dinochelus) — barely an inch long, its name
literally means "terrible claw." That single monstrous, spine-covered claw
dwarfs its tiny translucent body. And it's completely blind, hunting the deep
by touch. Discovered only in 2007 off the Philippines… and no one yet knows
what the giant claw is for.

A recent mystery, still waiting in the dark. 👁
