Also known as the “father of the medieval papacy”, this pope instituted many reforms of the Church, was a political diplomat for the protection of Rome, labored hard in the ecumenical field, worked for social justice especially for the Jews, and was responsible for the conversion of England during this time. St. Gregory the Great is one of the four key doctors of the Western Church. St. Gregory, pray for us!

🌹 Today is the traditional feast day of St. Rose of Lima! Born into a wealthy Peruvian family, Rose desired to become a nun but her father forbade it. So she became a Third Order Dominican at the age of 20, took a vow of virginity and began a rigorous life of mortification, prayer and penance in her family’s home. For the next 11 years, Rose experienced moments of ecstasy and visitations from the devil, but never allowed herself to be distracted from serving the Lord in the poor and sick. She died at the age of 31 after an illness and is revered as the patroness of Peru. St. Rose of Lima, pray for us!
