🔥 Today is the feast of St. Charles Lwanga and Companions, Ugandan martyrs of the 19th century. The local king was strongly opposed to Christianity and of very evil and promiscuous character. When Charles and other young men and boys in his service refused him s*xual favors and remained staunch in their Christian faith, King Mwanga “forcibly marched them to an ex*****on site thirty-seven miles away. They were then brought before a huge pyre, bound, and burned to death.” As they were dying, Charles and his companions prayed the Our Father and exhorted the onlookers to become Christian. St. Charles, patron of African Catholic Youth, converts and torture victims, pray for us! 🔥
