Replaced blown strut, now dealing with “ka-thunk” every time I drive over a pothole 2012 Cadillac SRX; With y’all’s help, I swapped my struts out 3 months ago. Since then, every little bump or ripple in the road causes a soft thunk or a louder ka-thunk noise, but it doesn’t pull bad, drives perfectly straight, no uneven wear, just weird noises. Possible defective strut assembly? The 4 bolts are all torqued.

I used a grinder to cut a rounded bolt off. The controller arm is very loose now but still won’t pop out. What should I do next?
I had a severely rounded control arm nut. I do not have a torch, but I did have a grinder so I cut the bolt completely off. It was a big castle nut and what is left is the washer that was connected to the castle nut. Pls help. I have a brand new control arm. 2019 stringer AW

Can trans fluid cap be too tight? Just bought a new transmission fluid cap for my 2014 Honda civic LX CVT transmission (per this communities recommendation, ty!) and it is slightly bigger than the old one, I shoved it in there and it's not 100% all the way in and it's really snug. I can still pull it out with a bit of force. The old one was replaced because my breather port was clogged and kept pushing it out, then it just sorted of rested on top.

Just wondering if there's any issues with it being too snug and not completely inserted? It's like 90% in the hole, up to the third line. I included a link to the one I bought, seems to be compatible but I just want to be sure. Thanks in advance!

New engine needed? 2014 VW Jetta S 2.0l CBPA.
Car died on the way back home and would not start again. Car engine was making sounds like a helicopter and then after about 30 minutes (I was driving on the highway at a steady 60mph trying to get back) the engine made a clunk sound and then was limping back until it stopped. Checking for codes there was p0304 and p0420 (p0420 has always been on this car). I charged the battery and changed the spark plug but that didn’t work. Turing the key to accessory works but trying to start the engine doesn’t even make a peep, the dashboard lights + headlights don’t dim either when trying to start the engine. The old spark plug appears to have made contact with something as the tip is smushed. I’m guessing that there was a catastrophic engine failure and I need a new engine. But I wanted to ask if there were any more tests I could do to start it up again or is there not point it trying? Thanks in advance

How can I cover the brake area before I spray Lanoguard on these bits? I want to spray lanoguard on what you see here. But I'm worried I'm going to mistakenly spray on the brake pads / discs.

How can I make a DIY cover for the wheel area?

Also, can I spray everything you see in this pic or should I stay away from any bits (other than brake pads and discs)?

Non-standard schrader valve? 2000 Buick Park Avenue. I have never had working AC in this car so I figured I would replace the schrader valves and recharge the system. However I do not see a way to remove and replace the valve. Is this some kind of aftermarket part? Pictures are of the high side port

I am being given an old 2nd gen Tacoma but the rust is starting to go past the surface. What would be the proper repair process this rust? This is a 2004 that has spent its entire life in northern Pennsylvania so I’m surprised it’s not in worse shape.
I’m just curious if someone with welding experience should reinforce the seams on the frame like the one pictured.

Where did the spark plug go?! 2016 Passat 1.8t

I recently got an APR stage 1 tune, flashed at home. Took the car for a drive and gave it a little peddle (a lot of peddle). Car turns on epc light and starts shuddering like crazy, I get it home and hookup VCDS, misfires racking up on cylinder 4 so it had also shut down cylinders for safety.

Reset codes and turn it on adv. measurements and Take it for a drive again. Cars driving great for a minute, live misfires upto 25 after 2 minutes driving. Ok so problem with cylinder 4, other cylinders seem fine. I presume older coil has s**t itself being from 2019, and had a misfire here or there the last few months before the tune on cylinder 4.

Out of curiosity I decide to take out spark plug on 4 and check it out… bottom strap is gone. Like completely gone. At this point I’m s**tting like is my cylinder gone? At this point I replaced all plugs, start it up and hear a metallic ping coming from cylinder 4. (Live misfires at 10 after 10-20 seconds)

30 seconds later after I’m trying to figure out exactly where the pinging come from, noise stops and misfires go away. Car starts to run perfectly. 0 misfires, all other live measurements, fuel, boost, requested and actual values all perfect. Has run like new the last few days.

My question is, Where tf did the strap go, out the exhaust?

Second time the cylinder 5 spark plug has burned out like this:/ any thoughts on why? 2002 Toyota tundra. I do the spark plugs myself and have replaced the wires and plugs themselves twice since this first happened. Take about 6-12 months for the plug to end up burning out like this as well. Kinda strange to me.
