Oscar Wilde Statue: Dublin, Ireland. A young woman leans in on the huge boulder that Oscar reclines on in Merrion Square Park. Documenting a scene like this can be a challenge, requiring lots of patience to simplify the image, when, as in this case, there are numerous tourists jockeying for position to shoot selfies with Oscar. You could tell, he just wanted to have a conversation with me, the food seemed secondary. I came across this homeless man in a Northern California town and offered to buy him some food at a nearby restaurant, but, as you can see, he insisted on bringing in his cherished bicycle for fear it might get stolen. We talked about his Army service, his ongoing search for work and a place to call home. Hope our brief interaction made his day a bit more interesting and meaningful - I know it made mine.
