A man in Nagoya pulled off a major food-delivery scam by using 124 fake accounts on Demae-can to order expensive meals like eel bentos, steaks and ice cream, then falsely claiming they never arrived. Over two years he placed 1,095 orders and racked up losses of about US $24,000 before being arrested. Demae-can has since pledged to upgrade its account-verification system to prevent similar abuse.
