Libraries are a sanctuary. As a latchkey kid, Texas’ public libraries were my third place. I got down with the microfiche, bean bags, apothecary-like cabinets filled with lil cards to help with the book hunt, and wish-fulfilling librarians.
San Francisco has 27 libraries and I’m visiting them all, cooking up ideas to launch in these places I love. Maybe something around democracy or menopause? You can’t quiet me about either these days…

Was reading a Gloria Steinem essay saying how younger women are more conservative. And us Crones are more free!
Midlife is liberating for me—I think things like, “I’ve never been to jail. Didn’t John Lewis promise us each one Good Trouble arrest? Maybe I ought to use that.”
But I’m also creating more, and trying to encourage others to join in. Like with this writing workshop for people in and around menopause. I’m leading an online session the evening of Juneteenth. If you’re reading this far, DM me for details. Let’s turn menopause into a literary movement!
