Westside Observer

Westside Observer FORMERLY A FREE local newspaper that supports the neighborhoods that are west of twin peaks and south to the Daly City line.

The Westside Observer is owned and operated by Westside San Francisco Media, a non-profit 501(c)(4) corporation registered in California and is currently transitioning after 32 years in print to an online only news source. The paper is now operated by former staff as Westside San Francisco Media, a non-profit 901(c)4 continuing its 33rd year of publication and is a leading voice on local SF issues.

Tom Pendergast, writing for the Sunset Beacon and Westside Observer, tells the story of the Philosophers Club's recent honoring with Legacy Business Status.
A West Portal institution dating back to 1948 has been added to San Francisco’s Legacy Business Registry, recognizing its long role as a neighborhood gathering place.
Perhaps the best way to honor the Philosophers Club is to follow Tom's implicit advice in his lead-in, gather there whether or not you're from the neighborhood.
