Dubai reported 93.8 million passengers in one year. This sets a new record and increases demand for faster airport growth. Officials confirmed the update at the Dubai Air Show. The announcement highlighted the scale of the emirate’s aviation plans.
The new Al Maktoum International Airport will get major funding from UK Export Finance. The total project cost is 35 billion dollars. The airport will sit 45 kilometers south of the current site. It will host five runways and about 400 aircraft gates. It is designed to handle 260 million passengers each year. This makes it the largest airport project planned anywhere.
