A little late, with too few bikes, and foolishly including the Peninsula too early . . . but Bay Area Bike Share is finally on its way.

Contract signed with Alta today, rollout to begin by August.

I was happy to see the long-awaited improvements to Panhandle Park start construction last month, but now it appears work is on hold with the job half complete. Not to mention the turf surrounding the paths looks worse than ever. What's up San Francisco Recreation and Park Department?

Well hello there Guerrero Park! It's been three and a half years and this Pavement to Parks plaza is still looking spiffy. The plants have finally matured and do a good job of shielding visitors from the nearby traffic.

Fun fact: the materials used for this project were all leftovers from elsewhere in the City. Check out those huge eucalyptus trunks!

Not every street has to prioritize thru traffic. I dream of more streets with a neighborhoody-feel, where place rules supreme. You might call them woonorfs.

SF has so many smaller streets – imagine Bartlett, Capp, Shotwell all looking like this. Keep it coming!

Let's pull it together San Francisco – there's no reason bike share should be taking this long. And we're only talking about a measly 1,000 bike system. NYC's Citi Bike system is rolling out THIS summer with 10,000 at 600 stations!

At first I was thinking "two bike corrals on the same block of 18th St!!" Turns out even that's not enough bike parking for this neighborhood. Both corrals are full and people are still locking to poles & trees.
