Hey friends, this is for those of you who want to create videos of your own!

I’m offering a personal mentorship program for a VERY limited time for a select group of people.

I haven’t announced this publicly yet, but I’ve gotten so many encouraging messages from you asking for help (thank you!), that I decided to create some resources for you! So I’m working on a curriculum to teach you everything I know, starting with how to set up your filming studio - background, lighting, camera, gear, etc.

Full disclosure, this will be a way for me to support the work on my channel. So this’ll be a paid (but highly discounted) opportunity since I’ll be working very closely with you in this program to make sure that the curriculum works. (I know this change of plans might be a surprise to some of you, so I will be sharing more of my story on this hopefully soon in an update video ā˜ŗļø)

šŸ‘‰ If you’re interested, I only have a few spots, so… **FILL OUT the SURVEY** and I’ll email you with details! https://www.thekevinshen.com/studio-survey

Hope you all have been hanging in there staying healthy - both in body and mind.

Sending you all the biggest hugs as always, especially if you need one today :)

I’ve missed you, and can’t wait to share more of what I’ve been working on for you all!

Much love, my friends! :)

It’s often easy to zoom in on what we enjoy, and lose track of the bigger picture. It’s tempting to ignore the hard questions and take a critical look at ourselves… but it’s so necessary.

This is a lesson I keep learning over and over again, thanks to patient friends and wise mentors. Hopefully with each time, it sticks just a little bit better.

Sending love to all of you out there climbing your Mt. Everests. It might be hard, and the weight on your shoulders might be enormous… but you’re not alone. We’ve got each other.

Thank you everyone for your messages and comments on the previous poems I posted from one of our friends here who is going through a very difficult time. She is the little girl in this poem, and she told me that your comments and messages made her smile so many times and she felt so loved by everyone. She said:

ā€œI’ve lost many people who I loved and also lost myself in the process. But I’m choosing to find myself and I’m grateful for all of you who have shown me the love that I needed.

ā€œPlease don’t take anyone for granted. You don’t know when you’re going to lose themā€

She is currently in the final victory stretch of her life after a long battle with disease and circumstance, and hearing her talk about what she has gone through has taught me so much about what it means to appreciate life in the mundane everyday moments. She showed me how we tend not to appreciate as we chase external things over savoring the little things that matter. And so, I asked her if she had any more to share with the rest of us from her vantage point, and she asked that I share poem with you all.

I hope this reminder moves you as much as it did for me. Hope you all are doing well, my friends ā¤ļø

Hi friends. I have a special favor to ask. Could you please read this message?

A member of our little internet family here has been going through multiple devastating life tragedies one after the other, more than most people I know have ever faced. Right now as I write this, she is sitting in the hospital.

She is one of the strongest people I know, and still remains so loving and kind in the face of so much. She is in a lot of pain right now and it would mean so much to her to see the love of a community to let her know that she is not alone.

I asked if she’d let me share some of her poems here for you all, in hopes that her sharing from her heart finds a way to touch yours. Seeing her work have an impact would mean so much to her.

It would mean the world if you could leave some comments if her writing touches you in any way. She asked to remain anonymous but will see your comments, and I will pass on any DMs to her.

I asked her why she wrote one of these poems and she said ā€œI wrote it in a time of hopeā€. And she needs that hope, and community, more than ever right now.

Thank you, and much love to you all, my friends šŸ™ā™„ļø

How are you doing?

Thanks to for her work on this amazing piece of custom thumbnail artwork for this week’s video about what it really means to love ourselves.

It’s a crazy time in the world.

And if there’s anything I’m learning from talking to many of you around the world and from thinking about life in general, it’s that our outward situation alone doesn’t determine our inner situation.

We all have a unique past, story, upbringing, perspectives, goals, and dreams that affect the reality we each carry with us. No matter how we are currently doing, those around us may be doing quite differently. And this is why I’m learning how much a difference we can make for each other by checking in to see how each other are doing.

To be honest, this is something that I’m also not as good as I wish I was. As someone who gets socially exhausted quickly, I’m trying to get better at this.

Especially now, when the world is hunkered down in self-quarantine and we can’t directly see the expressions on others’ faces… it’s all the more powerful when we make an effort to check on each other.

Please check on your friends and those around you. Even those who may seem okay… sometimes it’s the strongest of us who need a friend to lean on the most.

šŸ‘‰ Also, for those of you caring hearts who may be alarmed by this portrait of me, don’t worry it was just for the video. I’m doing well and am healthy in both mind and body.

How are you? :)

Question the advice you hear.

This is my poser face. I photoshopped this for this week’s youtube thumbnail… because I don’t own a Lamborghini or Ferrari or whatever fancy car that is… and I’m so proud of myself for how it turned out šŸ˜„ I think the lesson here is to question what you see.

Once I tell you it’s photoshopped, you can see it. But otherwise it’s hard to tell.

I think advice about the and is the same way.

Work hard.
Achieve.
Don’t sleep.
Don’t see your friends.

Sometimes it sounds like good advice, and I am a firm believer in hard work… but there is more to it than just hustle.

On one hand, it’s so much fun and sometimes necessary to give it everything you’ve got. But at what point do you get diminishing marginal returns? At what point does it become unhealthy? It’s such a hard balance to find, but one thing’s for sure - a good life is built by more than just accomplishments. We need to take care of who we are as people too.New video is up on the channel ;)

Man... I wish I had seen a therapist years ago. There’s a great power and peace that comes from self understanding. When you’re growing up, the only reality you know is that of your parents. But there’s such a wider diversity of experiences of this reality we call life, and I just want to tell you that your struggle is valid. Keep doing your best, and be proud of that no matter how it compares to those around you because we all start from a different place in our own unique life contexts. Rooting for you, friend :)

A huge thank you to for being such a great guide on this journey of self awareness, and to and who came to help me film some clips in this video!New video is up on the channel ;) @ Golden Gate Bridge

Lately I’ve been learning the importance of letting go, and trusting in the process. Filming is still one of the most terrifying things for me as a youtuber… I’m always scared that I won’t get the shots I need, or that the final project is not going to meet my perfectionist standards I have in my head, and I will feel like a failure. But I’m realizing that art is about trust. Knowing that you can’t possibly predict what the final output will ever look like from the beginning, and trusting that you will find your way to something you are proud of.

It’s still scary, but I think I’m getting there… What have you learned recently about the way you approach life?

A huge thank-you to friends like who came to help me film this video and snag this sweet shot, and who have helped me to understand the mental side of what this journey takes. šŸ™ļæ½ļæ½New video is up on the channel ;)
