THE RICHEST WOMAN IN NIGERIA DIDN’T COME FROM SHOWBIZ.🇳🇬

Her name is Folorunsho Alakija.
And she’s worth over $1.6 billion.

Daughter of a Muslim polygamist with 8 wives and 52 children, she could have disappeared in the crowd.
But she chose a different path.

At just 7, she left her family to study in Wales.
Back in Nigeria, she started as a secretary in a bank… and lost everything when it collapsed.

But she didn’t give up.
She reinvented herself in fashion, dressed First Ladies, won awards, launched a printing business…
And one day, she dared to do what few women do: she entered the oil business.

In 1993, she acquired an oil license.
While others sold theirs to big foreign firms, she kept hers.
She founded Famfa Oil, partnered with Texaco, and her block held over 1 billion barrels.

The government tried to seize 50% of her company for free.
She fought in court… and won.

Today, she owns a private jet, a $100 million residence in London, and a thriving family oil empire.
But above all, she gives back: scholarships, training for women, support for widows and orphans.

She didn’t inherit. She built it.
And became the richest Black woman in the world ahead of Oprah Winfrey.

Lesson: Where you come from doesn’t matter. Where you’re going does.

THE RICHEST MAN IN MADAGASCAR 🇲🇬

👉 You can be born far from the spotlight… and still build an empire that lights up the world.

His name is Ylias Akbaraly.
Born on December 29, 1959, in Majunga to a modest Indian-origin trading family, nothing seemed to predestine this young Malagasy of Karane descent to one day become the richest man in Madagascar and one of the most influential business leaders in Francophone Africa.

He left home early to pursue his studies abroad.
He earned a Master’s in Management from the École de Direction d’Entreprises in Paris in 1986, and a Master’s in Marketing from the prestigious University of California, Berkeley in 1989.
Far from his homeland, he armed himself with knowledge, vision, and courage.

When he took over the family business, he didn’t just keep it afloat he completely transformed it.
That’s how Sipromad Group was born: a massive conglomerate operating in finance, real estate, energy, tech, tourism, industry, aviation, and even broadcasting.

In 2018, he made headlines by acquiring the civil operations of Thomson Broadcast, a French telecoms icon.

Then in 2023, he went even further buying the American global leader GatesAir.
Yes, a Malagasy entrepreneur buying global telecom giants!

Today, his empire reaches far beyond Madagascar. His holding, Redland, employs over 3,000 people across the US, France, India, and the Middle East, making him a global success story born on African soil.

But Ylias Akbaraly is not just a business titan.
With his wife, Italian entrepreneur and philanthropist Cinzia Catalfamo, he founded the Akbaraly Foundation in 2008, fighting poverty and women’s cancer in Madagascar. Their mission is heartfelt and deeply rooted in love for their people.

Politically, he’s navigated wisely—close to Didier Ratsiraka, then aligning with Andry Rajoelina from 2007 onward, playing a discreet but strategic role in the nation’s evolution.

In 2021, he was named CEO of the Year by Financial Afrik a continental recognition for a man who started with little, but dreamed BIG.

THE LESSON:
No matter where you come from, what matters is your vision, your work ethic, your ability to learn, to build, to surround yourself with the right people… and to give back.

Ylias Akbaraly shows us that you can rise from a small island… and shine on the global stage.

THE RICHEST WOMAN IN CAMEROON 🇨🇲

She’s not from the showbiz world.
She doesn’t sell luxury handbags.
She’s not chasing likes.

She sells… cocoa.
And she’s worth 252 million dollars.

Meet Kate Kanyi-Tometi Fotso, the richest woman in Cameroon And the first woman to enter the top 30 wealthiest Francophone Africans.

Her story is a silent masterclass in business.

Kate Fotso is the founder and CEO of Telcar Cocoa Ltd, the leading cocoa exporting company in Cameroon. Her company alone handles 30% of the country’s cocoa exports. In 2015–2016 alone, Telcar exported 48,000 tons of cocoa.

In close partnership with American giant Cargill, she established a culture of efficient management, quiet yet strong leadership, and long-term vision.

But Kate is more than just numbers she’s a woman of real impact.

She is a shareholder in Ecobank Cameroon.
She sits on the Board of Directors of the Kribi Autonomous Port, directly appointed by President Paul Biya.
She also leads the Cargill Cocoa Promise initiative, which trained over 21,000 cocoa farmers between 2011 and 2015 to improve their farming practices.

Her late husband, André Fotso, was a prominent Cameroonian businessman, founder of the TAF Group and former president of the national employers’ association.

But when he passed away in 2016, Kate took over the business and she did more than just maintain it. She made it grow.

Forbes Africa ranks her as the 20th richest Francophone African.
Slate Magazine names her among the 10 most influential people in Cameroon.

Yet despite her influence, she stays away from the spotlight.
No scandals. No buzz.
Just work, impact, and real leadership.

While some chase shortcuts, she digs deep roots.
While others shine on social media, she quietly builds an empire.

Lesson of the day:
You don’t need noise to succeed.
Success loves silence, consistency, and vision.

Hats off to Madam Kate Fotso.
You are an inspiration to Africa especially to the new generation of young African women entrepreneurs.

THE RICHEST WOMAN IN GHANA 🇬🇭

Her name is Patricia Poku-Diaby.

She didn’t come from Silicon Valley.
She didn’t inherit an empire.
She built her success from a single grain: cocoa.

Born into a large family of traders (18 children!), Patricia learned the ins and outs of business early on from her father, Francis Kojo Poku. She started in transport, then moved into trading, before launching her own path.

While many dream of importing foreign models, she built her fortune by valuing the wealth of her own continent.

Today, Patricia Poku-Diaby is the richest woman in Ghana, and one of the most powerful women in Africa, with an estimated fortune of over $400 million.

Her secret?
She transformed Plot Enterprise, a small family business, into an agro-industrial giant specializing in the processing of cocoa, cashew, and cotton.

In 2010, she launched one of West Africa’s largest cocoa processing plants in Takoradi, southwest Ghana capable of processing 32,000 tons per year.

Her products (cocoa butter, paste, and powder) are now exported to the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and even Australia.

But her journey hasn’t been smooth…

In 2015, she faced public accusations of unsettled debts from Ghana’s national cocoa board (COCOBOD).
Many would have given up.
She didn’t. She faced the storm quietly, resolved the issue, and kept growing her empire.

Today, she employs over 600 people, promotes ethical production, and fights to ensure African farmers benefit fairly from the wealth they create.

Patricia also carries a vision:
Industrialize Africa, by Africans
Add real value to our natural resources
Empower women and youth in key sectors

She doesn’t speak much in the media. She doesn’t chase the spotlight.
But her work shines across the continent.

Her message is clear:
“You can be a woman, African, an entrepreneur, and powerful.
You can build your empire here, without leaving.
You can turn soil into gold, with courage and vision.
Everything is possible for every woman because you are capable.”

📌 Oklm Africa is all about this: shining a light on those who build in silence.

🇰🇪 THE RICHEST MAN IN KENYA

Here’s the inspiring story of Vimal Shah, one of the most influential business figures on the African continent.

Behind his success lies a journey filled with challenges, perseverance, and a deep love for Africa.

He dared to build from nothing

In 1985, in the midst of an economic crisis in Kenya, three men chose to dream big: Vimal Shah, his father Bhimji Depar Shah, and his brother.

Their goal? To start a soap manufacturing company.
The problem? Local banks slammed their doors in their faces.
But instead of giving up, they turned to family and friends, borrowed money, and decided to take the leap.

They overcame local market barriers (such as the scarcity of cotton) by importing palm oil from Malaysia. That’s how they laid the first stones of what would become BIDCO AFRICA.

Today, BIDCO Africa is one of the largest industrial groups on the continent.

It manufactures and distributes fast-moving consumer goods in more than 13 African countries, with factories in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

BIDCO specializes in:
Edible oils
Margarine & bakery products
Detergents, soaps, laundry bars
Animal feeds

By 2013, BIDCO had already reached $500 million USD in annual revenue — a 100% African success story, born from local vision and fueled by a bold pan-African strategy.

Since 2017, Vimal Shah stepped down as CEO to become Chairman of the Board. Less involved in daily operations, he now focuses on mentoring and empowering the next generation of African entrepreneurs.

Through his blog, he shares weekly practical advice every Monday on entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, and resilience.
His message is clear to African youth: build without fleeing, create without copying, succeed without cheating.

“Being Kenyan is not something you borrow. It’s something you live.” – Vimal Shah

That’s the mindset that led him to stay in Kenya when many fled instability to build, to endure, and to believe.

A central figure in regional economic development, Vimal Shah has served as:
President of KEPSA (Kenya Private Sector Alliance)
Chairman of EABC (East African Business Council)
Leader of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers

Even though Forbes removed him from its Top 50 Richest Africans list in 2014, replacing his name with his father’s, Vimal Shah’s impact on the economy remains undeniable.

Married to Manda Shah and father to Soham, Vimal is more than just a businessman.
He is a builder of hope, a symbol of homegrown success, and living proof that Africa can produce its own economic giants.

His journey is a masterclass in courage, innovation, and faith in the African continent.

THE MOST POWERFUL WOMAN IN EAST AFRICA 🇹🇿

👉 A lesson in humility, courage, and feminine leadership.

In an East Africa still largely dominated by male figures in power, Samia Suluhu Hassan rises as a shining star in African politics a symbol of boldness, intelligence, and resilience.

Born on January 27, 1960, in Zanzibar (then a British protectorate), Samia was never “meant” to lead a country. Coming from a modest background, she began working in public administration right after finishing high school in 1977. At a time when few women dared to dream of leadership roles, she chose her own path furthering her education while working. She earned a diploma in public administration in Tanzania, studied economics at the University of Manchester, and completed a master’s degree in Community Economic Development in 2015.

Her political career began in 2000 in Zanzibar. As the only female minister in a cabinet full of men, she faced sexism, isolation, and political resistance but she never gave up.

In 2010, she was elected to the National Assembly and appointed Minister of State for Union Affairs. She remained a low-profile but committed and effective leader.

Then came 2015: President John Magufuli chose her as his running mate a historic first in Tanzania. Samia became the first woman in East Africa to hold the office of Vice President since Uganda’s Specioza Wandira-Kazibwe (1994–2003).

In 2020, the Magufuli–Suluhu ticket was re-elected.

Then fate stepped in.

On March 17, 2021, President Magufuli passed away. And on March 19, in a calm and historic moment, Samia Suluhu Hassan was sworn in as the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, becoming the first female Head of State in the country’s history.

A Muslim woman from Zanzibar leading a mostly Christian nation a remarkable achievement, a turning point, a quiet revolution.

Unlike her predecessor’s authoritarian style, she advocates unity, dialogue, and diplomacy. She extended an olive branch to the opposition, reopened censored media outlets, enacted public health reforms to fight COVID-19, and modernized government communication.

She even met with exiled opposition leader Tundu Lissu to discuss national reconciliation. With political intelligence, quiet strength, and a deeply inclusive vision, she has redefined leadership in Tanzania.

In January 2025, her party CCM nominated her as its presidential candidate for the upcoming October 2025 elections. A mandate of continuity? Perhaps. But more than that, it’s a mission to reinvent Tanzania through the lens of feminine leadership.

Privately, she’s been married since 1978 to Hafidh Ameir, with whom she has four children. Her daughter, Mwanu, is following in her political footsteps.

Samia Suluhu is not just a president.
She’s a symbol, a voice, an inspiration.

She proves that Africa doesn’t just need strong men it also needs powerful, intelligent, and deeply human women.

👉 To all young African girls: here is living proof that everything is possible. ✌️

🚨 Nigeria 🇳🇬: A Lecturer Dies in Hotel Room After a “Practical” Session with a Student! 😳💔

Dr. Olabode Ibikunle, a senior lecturer at Kogi State University, reportedly passed away after an intense “s3xplanation” session with a 22-year-old student in a hotel in Anyigba. According to local media, the professor had allegedly consumed too many energy drinks to boost his “performance” but in the end, it was death that had the last word. 🫣

Known for being strict in class, he was secretly accused of being a master of “S.T.G.” S3xually Transmitted Grades. That day, it was during the second round that both his career and life came to an end. 😢

The student has been taken in for questioning. An autopsy is reportedly underway…

🕊️ RIP Professor you died in action. The union is proud. 🙌
