Please join us at the Swedish American Hall on April 27th from 12:00-4:00PM, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Swedish Society of San Francisco. SSSF is the oldest, and at one point the largest, local Swedish organization in the Bay Area.

A delicious banquet will be prepared by Chef August Schuchman, of the decadent Wooden Spoon Restaurant (located at the street level of the Hall). Followed by a program revisiting our history and the Hall, music, and a discussion of the future social opportunities going forward, it will indeed be a wonderful afternoon of Scandinavian camaraderie.

Even if you belong to another Swedish or Scandinavian organization, we welcome all of our Scandi-brethren to celebrate this incredible milestone. 🇸🇪 Skål! 🇸🇪

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of an extraordinary woman, our very own Swedish Grande Dame, Lisa Wiborg. A pillar in our Bay Area Scandinavian community, active in countless organizations, and the founder of many local annual tradition celebrations, she made a profound impact on countless lives.

May her legacy of kindness, dedication, and generosity remain forever in our hearts. Rest in peace 🌿💙💛

👑🇸🇪Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden visited San Francisco last week, and what a trip! In addition to presiding over the grand opening of the Swedish Consulate General office on Market Street and the appointment of Swedish career diplomat Anna Lekvall, the royal couple visited the Scandinavian School of San Francisco.

Following this, a reception was held at the Sjømannskirken -- you can see in the photos from the event our board member Ted Olsson and the iconic Lisa Wiborg greeting the future queen! 🙌

When she is crowned, Victoria will become the first reigning queen in the royal Bernadotte family of Sweden since 1720, and 4th queen ever in Sweden's history. Talk about girl power 🇸🇪

As the weather begins to cool down 🥶, we look back to the sunny memories made at the Midsommar celebration with our friends from the Swedish American Patriotic League at Sveadahl! 🇸🇪

Our very own Mimmi Skoglund was in attendance, representing the Swedish Society of San Francisco, along with families, children, and other members of various Scandinavian organizations from all over the Bay Area. 🇸🇪 Hip hip, hurra! 🇸🇪

Join us at our storied Swedish American Hall for updates regarding our organization and what's to come in 2023. Food and refreshments will be served and the meeting will begin promptly at 6:30PM in the Balder Room.

[Sweden in the news]: In the land of ✨Dancing Queens✨ (and Kings), Swedes now get to shimmy and shake without dancing permit restrictions!💃🕺

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Sweden's center-right coalition government wants to cut red tape when it comes to dancing by abolishing a decade-old requirement for restaurants, nightclubs and other venues to obtain permits before they let patrons shimmy and sway.

Sweden has a new Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson! Leading the Moderaterna party, he received 176 votes for his election and 173 against, making it a very close race. From SSSF, we say välkommen and lycka till! 🇸🇪

The Prime Minister’s Office is responsible for leading and coordinating the work of the Government Offices.

Traditions continue with SAPL's Midsommar event last weekend, with representatives from affiliate Scandinavian organizations dressed to impress. SSSF's chosen Midsommar Maid of Honor was member Stig Tisell's daughter Katrina. Grattis Katrina!

The National Day of Sweden, 6 June, has only been a public holiday since 2005. On that day Swedes celebrate with waving flags and royals.

Trending in the global news: Sweden explores NATO membership. Their potential membership would be the most significant NATO expansion since the addition of three Balkan countries in 2004.
