You stopped noticing the view from your desk years ago. It didn’t stop working on you.

Sit down in your chair. Look straight ahead. What’s actually there?

A blank wall.
A stack of things you never finished.
A shelf one item away from collapsing.
A corner that makes you feel boxed in.
The area in front of your desk represents your future. It should feel like water flowing toward you. An open vista. Room for something to arrive.

Block it and your work life reads the same way: nowhere to go.

So clear whatever sits in your direct sightline. Not the whole room, just the line your eyes travel.

If you face a wall, give it depth. A long horizon, an open road, a wide sky.

Something with somewhere to go.
And move the bulletin board of unfinished tasks out of your eyeline. You don’t need a wall reminding you what you haven’t done.
Your eyes file a report on your prospects a few hundred times a day. Make it a good one.

Is your closet packed from end to end?
Are every drawer and bathroom cabinet completely full?

Is the other side of your bed piled with books, laundry or cushions?

Is there only one comfortable place to sit?

Does your bedroom feel designed entirely around one person?

In Feng Shui, your home reflects the life you’re living, but it can also reinforce the life you’re expecting.

If every inch says “there’s only room for me,” you’re symbolically holding onto single-person energy.

You don’t need to empty half your wardrobe or leave a toothbrush holder waiting for an imaginary partner.

Just create some space!

An empty section in a drawer.
A little room in the closet.
Clear space on both sides of the bed.
Two bedside tables where possible.
A home where another person could comfortably enter your life without having to squeeze themselves into it.

Making space doesn’t guarantee love will walk through the door.

But it sends a powerful message:

I’m ready to share my life. There’s room for someone here.

Your bathroom may be one of the smallest rooms in your home, but in Feng Shui, small details create a surprising amount of stagnant energy.

Three things I notice immediately.

The drain. Hair trapped in it, water slow to clear.

The faucet. A slow drip nobody has gotten around to fixing.

The shelf. Products you haven’t used in years, bottles that are empty, makeup and skincare you don’t even like but somehow keep.

None of these feels particularly important on its own. But together they create a room full of things that are blocked, leaking or long past their date.

That is not the energy you want reinforced around your finances.

Start with the drain. Clear anything preventing water from flowing freely.

Fix the drip. In Feng Shui, water is closely associated with wealth, and you don’t want the symbolism of your resources quietly draining away.

Clear the shelf of anything empty, unused or expired.

Then make two habits part of your routine. Keep the toilet lid down and the bathroom door closed. Traditionally in Feng Shui, this contains the draining energy associated with bathrooms rather than letting it circulate through the rest of the home.

You don’t need a beautiful bathroom.

You need one that works, flows and shows signs of being cared for.

Financially successful homes aren’t perfect.

They’re just not neglected.

After 25 years of walking into homes, this is one of the clearest patterns I see.

• The perfume is always half empty.
• The candles are burnt down.
• The best glasses are at the front of the cupboard, not the back.
• The good jewelry has been worn enough to need cleaning.
• Nothing is being saved.

Now look at your own home. The perfume you’re rationing. The candle still in its box. The glasses that only come out for guests. The jewelry waiting for somewhere worth wearing it to.

It isn’t about what she can replace. It’s about what she thinks she’s worth on an ordinary Tuesday.

A saved-for-later mentality carries a quiet message:

Not yet. This isn’t the moment. I should wait. I’m not good enough.

In Feng Shui, our surroundings reinforce our patterns. What sits unused stays dormant. What is seen, used and appreciated keeps moving.

So use the good glasses. Light the candle. Wear the jewelry. Put something you love where you can actually see it.

You don’t have to wait for an occasion to enjoy what you worked hard for.

So before you add another pair of candles or buy anything “Feng Shui,” find out where your love area actually is. Look at what your home is saying there.

Windows are the eyes of your home. And they may be affecting how you see opportunity.

Windows are the eyes of your home. Symbolically, they influence how clearly you see opportunity, growth and possibility beyond where you are now.

This is not only about the window by your front door or your desk. Every window matters. Each one is a place where your home looks out and takes something in, and when it is dirty, covered or obstructed, that view narrows without you necessarily noticing it.

Sunlight brings active energy into a room and keeps it feeling alive. Moonlight brings something quieter, allowing the space to settle and rest. A home needs both to feel balanced, and blocked or dirty glass can mute that exchange in both directions.

Open your window treatments during the day and close them at night. This simple daily rhythm allows your home to welcome active energy while the sun is up, then shift into a quieter, more restorative energy once it sets.

Walk through your home today and look at every window.

• Can you see clearly through the glass?
• Is anything blocking the view?
• Are curtains or blinds permanently closed?
• And what do you actually see when you look out?

Clear the glass. Clear the sight line. Give your home and yourself a wider view of what is possible.

Look at where you eat tonight. If you have a dining table, is it somewhere people can sit comfortably and see one another?

Or has it become a place for mail, laptops, packages and everything waiting to be dealt with?

And if you do not have a dining table, where does everyone gather? It could be two seats at a kitchen island, a breakfast bar or even a coffee table. What matters is having a regular place where you can put your food down, see one another and share a meal.

In Feng Shui, the place where you eat represents more than nourishment. It is where conversations happen, relationships are maintained and the people in your home reconnect.

But if every seat faces the television, everyone’s attention is being pulled away from one another.

Clear the surface.
Make every seat accessible.
Turn off the television.
Put the phones away.

Give yourselves a moment to savor the food, share your day and be fully present with one another, even if it is only for twenty minutes.

A home should make connection easier, not allow distraction to take its place.

Your career needs support behind it. In Feng Shui, I would never choose an office position with a window or a door directly behind my chair.

A door behind you means you cannot see who is approaching. Symbolically, this is linked to being caught off guard or undermined at work.

A window behind you can leave your position feeling unsupported and exposed, with nothing solid at your back.

Ideally, arrange your desk so a solid wall sits behind you and you can see the door without sitting directly in line with it.

If a window is behind you, drape a scarf, jacket or throw over the back of your chair for solid support, and angle your desk so you are not facing it directly.

If your back is to the door, use what you already have. A framed print with glass or a polished tray angled behind you can let you sense movement without buying anything new.

You may not be able to change the office. You can still strengthen your position within it.

Your workspace should support your authority, your recognition and the income you are working toward.

Save this and check what is directly behind your chair tomorrow.

Your home doesn’t need to look expensive to support financial success, but it does need to have room for what you say you want.

• Room in the closet instead of every inch being packed.

• Room on the kitchen counter instead of every surface being occupied.

• Room in your schedule and surroundings to deal with things before they become problems.

• And room to bring something new into your life without wondering where on earth you’re going to put it.

In Feng Shui, space is not about having an empty home - it’s about capacity.

When everything is full, unfinished or being kept “just in case,” there is very little room for your life to expand.

So look around tonight and ask yourself:

If my income, opportunities and financial resources increased this year, does my home look ready for that life?

You don’t need to clear half the house.

Create one deliberate pocket of space for what’s next.

You deserve the best every day, not just someday.
