SUVA BRACES FOR TOUGH BA SEMI-FINAL

GLOBAL Care Suva FC will be aiming to continue its impressive Extra Battle of the Giants campaign when it faces host Dayals Steel Ba FC in the first semi-final this Saturday.

The Capital City side qualified as Group A winner after recording two wins from its three pool matches at Four R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba.

Suva opened its campaign with a 3–1 victory over Blue Gas Navua FC before producing a commanding performance to defeat defending champion Extra Supermarket Labasa FC 3–0.

Despite suffering a 2–1 loss to Nasinu FC in its final pool match, Suva had already done enough to secure top spot in the group.

Under coach Pita Rabo, the Whites have displayed confidence in attack, scoring seven goals during the pool stage.

However, they will expect a much tougher challenge from a Ba side that will enjoy strong support from its home crowd.

Ba finished second in Group B after recording victories over Tagimoucia Nadi FC and Khelvin Realtors Lautoka FC. Its only defeat came against group winner Stratum/PPCL Rewa FC.

The Men in Black will also enter the semi-final carrying confidence from their 3–1 victory over Lautoka in their final pool match.

Suva has won the BOG title three times and will be determined to move one step closer to adding another crown to its collection.

The first semi-final between Global Care Suva FC and Dayal’s Steel Ba FC will kick off at 2pm this Saturday at Four R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba.

NASINU DEFIES ODDS TO REACH BOG SEMI-FINAL

NASINU FC president Jagindar Singh is proud of his side’s achievement after the Giant Killers qualified for the Extra Battle of the Giants semi-finals for the first time in seven years.

Nasinu entered the tournament as underdogs and without a major sponsor but finished second in Group A following victories over Blue Gas Navua FC and Global Care Suva FC.

The side suffered a narrow 1–0 loss to defending champion Extra Supermarket Labasa FC in its opening match before defeating Navua 1–0.

Nasinu then secured its semi-final berth with an impressive 2–1 win over Suva in its final pool match.

Singh said the achievement reflected the commitment and sacrifices made by the players, officials and supporters.

“We came into the tournament as underdogs, and I am very proud of what the players and officials have achieved,” he said.

“We do not have a major sponsor, but everyone has worked hard and made sacrifices for Nasinu.

“Qualifying for the semi-finals is the best Father’s Day gift for all the fathers and supporters of Nasinu.”

Under coach Abunesh Kapoor, the side has displayed discipline and determination throughout the competition.

Nasinu last reached the BOG semi-finals in 2019, when it held Labasa scoreless for 90 minutes before losing 3–0 in extra time.

The Giant Killers have finished runners-up twice, in 1989 and 1991, but are yet to win the tournament.

Nasinu will face Group B winner Stratum/PPCL Rewa FC in the second semi-final at 4.30pm this Saturday at Four R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba.

Five Dead, Multiple Injured After Amazon Prime Cargo Plane Overruns Runway in Miami
MIAMI — At least five people are dead and five others injured after an Amazon Prime cargo plane overran the runway during landing at Miami International Airport, colliding with multiple vehicles and triggering a massive fire.
The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. local time when the Boeing 767-300 freighter—operated by 21 Air and arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico—failed to stop on Runway 30. Flight radar data indicates the aircraft was traveling at nearly 130 mph when it exited the usable asphalt, striking surrounding vehicles before bursting into flames and sending a large plume of black smoke visible across the airfield.
Emergency Response and Extrication
More than 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to the scene, facing heavy flames, thick smoke, and an active fuel leak.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief Raied "Ray" Jadallah confirmed that emergency personnel had to extricate several individuals trapped inside the struck vehicles.
Fatalities: 5 confirmed dead at the scene.
Injuries: 5 injured. Three individuals were rushed to a local trauma center in critical condition, while two others were transported to a nearby hospital.
Flight Crew: Responders successfully removed the pilots from the aircraft; both were treated on-site and evaluated by medical personnel.
Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz reassured the public during a Sunday evening press conference that there is no ongoing threat to public safety, though emergency crews remained on scene to manage fuel containment.
Investigation Underway
According to preliminary Air Traffic Control audio, the flight crew did not declare an emergency prior to touching down on the 9,000-foot runway. Initial surface inspections revealed no debris or aircraft parts on the runway itself, though the plane damaged airfield navigational equipment as it skidded off the pavement.
Both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched investigations to determine why the 32-year-old aircraft was unable to stop.

NASINU STUN SUVA, LABASA NOW NEED FOUR-GOAL WIN

Nasinu FC has thrown Group A of the Extra Battle of the Giants wide open after stunning Global Care Suva FC 2-1 at Four R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba today.

Paul Francis put Nasinu ahead in the 18th minute before Gagame Feni responded for Suva just three minutes later to make it 1-1.

Billy Afi proved to be the match-winner, finding the back of the net in the 53rd minute as Nasinu held on for a crucial victory.

The win moved Nasinu to six points alongside Suva, but the Capital City side remains ahead on goal difference.

Suva has a goal difference of +4, while Nasinu sits on +1.

Attention now turns to the final Group A encounter between Extra Supermarket Labasa FC and Blue Gas Navua FC at 3.30pm.

Labasa enters the match on three points with a goal difference of -2 and, based on overall goal difference, needs to defeat Navua by at least four goals to move above Nasinu.

A four-goal victory would take the Babasiga Lions to six points and at least +2 goal difference, enough to move ahead of Nasinu.
