On Monday, June 23, Vine Hospitality unexpectedly announced the closure of all seven of its Bay Area restaurants, leaving more than 300 employees and multiple communities shocked. Left Bank Brasserie has served the Larkspur community since 1994, founded by restaurateur Ed Levine and French Chef Roland Passot inside the historic Blue Rock Inn. The restaurant group also operated LB Steak and Meso Modern Mediterranean locations across the Bay Area. Employees were informed of the shutdowns during meetings on Monday morning before closure notices were posted on social media and restaurant doors. The reason for closure was directed toward a difficult operating environment, declining sales and failed San Francisco expansion projects. Several locations are expected to close by midweek.

Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations Corbett Elsen presented an updated budget proposal for the 2026-2027 fiscal year to the Tamalpais Union High School District (TUHSD) board of trustees on Tuesday, June 16.
Elsen provided an in-depth analysis of the district’s revenues, expenditures, future outlooks and the global and economic uncertainties affecting the district’s revenue due to inflation and the war in Iran.
Because TUHSD is a basic-aid district, Elsen explained the significance of the housing market, stressing the gravity of the district’s financial situation as a result of lower demand.
“This is the bread and butter of our revenue: property tax revenues, [projected] to bring in over $93 million,” Elsen said. “But, we have decreased our revenue growth rate [projections].”
Elsen will return to the board of trustees on June 23, where the board will take formal action to adopt the proposed budget. To learn more about the updated budget proposal from the meeting, visit the June 16 TUHSD Gamut Online agenda.

Redwood’s athletic program is one of the best-funded in the state, but not every team gets the same support. Behind the matching uniforms, charter buses and team dinners that some sports enjoy is a fundraising structure built on three independent booster clubs, grandfathered in decades before the district’s current rules.
For the full investigation into how Redwood’s athletic funding actually works, which sports it leaves behind and what it would take to close the gap, visit the Feature section of https://redwoodbark.org.

On Thursday, June 11, amid a 90-degree heat wave, the Class of 2026 celebrated graduation at Redwood. Surrounded by family, friends and faculty members, graduates reflected on their high school journeys through student speeches and musical performances before crossing the stage to receive their diplomas.
