The San Francisco Bay Times this college football season honors out NCAA trailblazers, the talented and brave stars of the gridiron who have come out as gay either while as players or later in life. Several have gone on to other important leadership positions, such as politician Brian Sims and, on the Bay Times cover, the Bay Area's own Martin Jenkins, who became the first openly gay justice to serve on the California Supreme Court. He was also only the third Black man to serve on this highest court of the state.
With ballots about to be mailed to voters, columnists Joanie Juster and Zoe Dunning share what you can do—in addition to casting your votes—to help make a positive difference during this important midterm election season.
