"To the Applebee’s team in Summersville, WV… thank you.

This past weekend, my husband and I were driving home to Beckley after the worst three days of our lives.

Our precious 6-week-old baby girl had been flown to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh on Wednesday. By Saturday morning… she was gone. 💔 We hadn’t even known she was so ill until then.

On the way home, exhausted and broken, we stopped at Applebee’s — the first real food we’d had since Friday. My in-laws were back home trying to quietly move baby things into storage so we wouldn’t have to face them right away.

We sat at the bar, trying to keep it together. But I couldn’t. I went into the bathroom and completely broke down. One of your managers just happened to be there. She didn’t rush me. She didn’t dismiss me. She simply let me cry, listened, and comforted me.

Not long after, another manager came to our table, hugged me, and offered condolences. And when it was time to leave, instead of a bill, we got a handwritten note saying our lunch was covered. The bartender hugged me too.

I can’t remember their names — grief is a blur — but I will never forget their compassion. In the darkest moment of my life, three strangers gave me light. 🌹

Applebee’s, please know you have angels on your team in Summersville. Their kindness will live in my heart forever." 🙏

"💐✨ Something beautiful happened at our nephew’s wedding today…

Instead of tossing her bouquet into the crowd, the bride did something different. She gently took her bouquet apart, one flower at a time, and handed a flower to each single girl. 🌸

But she didn’t stop there. She prayed with each of them — asking God to bless them, and to give them patience to wait for the man He has chosen for them. 🙏❤️

Such a powerful reminder: love isn’t about tradition, it’s about intention. And today, this bride’s gesture touched every heart in the room." 💍✨

"Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine waking up to find my 5-year-old son fighting for his life after a rattlesnake bite. 💔

Lennon saw a red diamond rattlesnake strike toward his dog, Sunshine. Without hesitation, he pushed her out of the way—and took the bite himself. 🐍🐾

He spent nearly a week in the ICU and received 35 vials of anti-venom. It was terrifying. But this brave little boy will make a full recovery. 🙏

The hospital staff were so inspired by his courage, they awarded him a Medal of Honor. 🏅

But the greatest reward came when we arrived home—Sunshine smothered her hero with love. They told us if the snake had bitten her instead, she wouldn’t have survived. Lennon literally saved her life.

At just five years old, my son is a protector, a fighter, and without a doubt—a hero." ❤️

"My sweet son, Caden Jackson, has been growing out his hair for over a year—so he could donate it to cancer patients. 💇‍♂️💝

He did it to honor his dad, Wayne, and his brothers, Preston and Parker.

It hasn’t been easy. He’s been bullied, called names, and teased for looking like a “girl.” But he stood his ground, stayed strong, and waited until his hair was long enough.

And today was the day. ✂️✨

Caden is rocking a brand new look, and his hair is on its way to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.

I couldn’t be prouder of my 8-year-old—for his perseverance, his dedication, and his huge heart." 💕

"This is my husband, Lafayette City Police Sergeant Randal Leger. 💙

This morning in downtown Lafayette, someone spotted him buying breakfast for a homeless woman—and sitting down to share a conversation that brightened her day.

In a time when so much negativity surrounds police, I want people to remember this: most officers are kind, compassionate, and simply want to do good in the lives of others.

Proud of him, and proud to share the good." 🙏✨

"I grew up in the foster care system in South Carolina.

My parents struggled with addiction. My father was an alcoholic who abused my mother until he was killed when I was in 4th grade. My mother went to jail for credit card fraud, and by 12 years old, I was placed in foster care.

From ages 12–19, I bounced around 9 foster homes and 2 group homes. The summer after I graduated high school, I was arrested for something I didn’t do—and forced to sign out of foster care.

But that wasn’t the end of my story.

I went to college and earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Lander University. I became a social worker for the South Carolina Department of Social Services, helping protect the very children I once was. While working, I earned my Master’s in Higher Education Administration at Columbia College. Today, I’m a Resident Director at Tulane University.

I made it because of people who chose to love me:
💙 My Guardian Ad Litem, who took me in after foster care and became my “aunt.” Her husband is my uncle, and their sons are my brothers.
💙 My high school basketball coach, who made me part of his family, and became the father I needed.

I made it because of organizations like Together We Rise, who support kids in the foster system.

And I made it because I refused to be defined by where I came from.

My life motto is simple:
✨ “It’s not where you’re from, it’s where you’re going.” ✨

And now, I dedicate my life to helping foster kids believe the same."

"Tried supporting another Black-owned business today for lunch: Ava’s Kitchen. They just opened in April. Super clean spot. But y’all… let me tell you about this owner. 😂

First thing I asked: “Why are there balloons tied to my chair? It’s not my birthday.”
She looked me dead in the eye and said: “Mind ya business. Those are Mommy’s.” 🎈

I’ve been waiting on my food for 45 minutes. I’m the ONLY customer in here. She was making good progress at first, then disappeared for 20 minutes… to go watch Paw Patrol. 🐾📺

Customer service? Needs work.
But the cook? Absolutely adorable. 💕

So I’ll give her another chance. Let’s not be so quick to give up on Black businesses over one little mistake." 😉

"If you ever dine at 42nd Street Oyster Bar, ask for a server named “FIVE.” 🙌

He noticed me struggling to eat while also helping Lee, and without hesitation, he stepped in. He treated Lee with total respect and kindness the entire time.

It was a simple act, but it reminded me that there are still truly decent, compassionate people in this world.

So if you go — pay it forward for FIVE." 💙

"Dear Doctor,

Six and a half years ago, I walked out of your office carrying the weight of the world. You told me my newborn baby wouldn’t live to see her first birthday. You told me our only answers were morphine and hospice.

We never came back.

Today, that same baby graduated kindergarten. 🎓💜 And you were on my mind.

The road hasn’t been easy—there’s been pain, surgeries, PICU stays, and plenty of setbacks. But my little girl isn’t just surviving—she’s thriving.

The child who you said would “never reach any milestones” now runs everywhere she goes. She talks nonstop, charms an entire town, and introduces herself to strangers with a confident:
“Hi! I’m Marley Bedford! What’s your name?”

Her joy is unstoppable. Her love for life is contagious. She is perfection—even with her fragile bones and fading eyesight. If the world had just a fraction of her joy, it would be a completely different place.

The day you gave us that diagnosis, you left out one thing: hope.

And hope is what has carried us. Through fear. Through surgeries. Through sleepless nights. Through triumphs and failures.

For all the medicine and knowledge you hold, hope is still the most powerful tool.

So, the next time you give a family devastating news, I pray you’ll remember Marley. Remind them that even when the odds are stacked against them—there is still hope.

Because sometimes… hope isn’t just everything.
It’s the only thing." ✨

“No, we are NOT getting Skittles, Max.”

“But Mom! I wanna taste the rainbow. Pleeeeease!”

That’s how our grocery trip began. 🙃

The woman in front of us with the “Jesus Saves” tote bag smiled at him, then at me, and said, “He’s precious.”
I smiled back. “Thanks.”

Then she asked, “Is he yours?”

“Yes. He’s all mine.”

Max, of course, yelled, “I’m adopted!” before running off to the baking aisle.

And just like that, we were in that conversation. The one I’ve had on repeat since he was born. Because I’m white, he’s Black, and apparently that makes our story an open invitation to strangers’ curiosity.

She kept going.
“Does he know who his real mother is?”
“Someday he’s going to want to find her, you know.”
“I just don’t understand how someone could give up their baby.”

Meanwhile Max was crawling under the cart, begging for pudding, and waving Pokémon cards at me like a white flag.

I wanted to melt into the floor. The line was crawling, the price-check light was flashing, and this woman’s questions were getting louder, sharper, heavier.

Finally, I broke. “STOP IT!” I snapped—louder than I ever have in public. Everyone went quiet. I grabbed Max, left the line, and headed for self-checkout, my heart pounding.

I braced myself for all the big questions later. I thought I’d have to explain adoption again. Reassure him that I’m his “real” mommy. Remind him his birth mom isn’t swooping in to take him back.

But that night, as he brushed his teeth, the only thing he asked was:
“Jesus saves what?”

Kids have a way of cutting right through all the noise."

"Today at lunch, I held the door open for an older lady. She smiled, thanked me, and told the hostess: “Table for one.”

I hesitated for a second… then walked over and said:
“I’m eating alone too. Would you like some company?”

Her face lit up. She was ecstatic.

Over lunch, she told me she’d spent the last decade caring for her mom (who recently passed) and her aunt (now in a nursing home). She admitted she’s been struggling with the loneliness.

We talked. We laughed. She kept thanking me for simply listening. What she didn’t realize is that her words healed me just as much as my presence healed her loneliness.

By far the best decision I’ve made all year. 💙

Her name is Delores. And starting now—we’re having lunch together every Thursday." 🥹✨
