"I just had a knock at the door - I wasn't expecting anyone, so opened the door pretty sheepishly. A lady who was clearly of Muslim faith was standing outside with a carrier bag filled to the brim with containers. Confused, I asked if she was okay - she told me her name, and apologized for knocking so late in the day before explaining that she lived on my road in another flat and was walking round the houses to give people gifts; bearing in mind that I hadn't ever seen or spoken to her before. She opened her bag and handed me a selection of beautiful smelling food, wrapped in foil with a small note titled 'Dear Neighbour', a jar filled with Bombay Mix, and a double-sided letter titled 'Ramadan' - picture attached.

She told me she wanted to share something with everyone on our road to explain what Ramadan actually is for those of us who aren't aware, and to give us the gift of food at a time when neither her, nor her family, we're able to eat. The letter detailed what Ramadan is, why it is practiced by followers of Islam, and what the principles of Islam actually are. I had expected the knock at the door to be a disgruntled neighbour complaining about my parking, or God forbid, a political canvasser - *shudder* - I didn't expect a visit from someone who simply wanted to share community spirit, generosity and most importantly, someone who wanted to actively share the knowledge of a religion which is currently at the center of recent events, and which is integral to the lives of over a 1/6th of the planet's population.

Recently there's been a lot of headlines in the news referencing Islam in relation to the terrible events which are taking place far too regularly. I've found it disheartening and disappointing to see quite a few comments online, and quite a few tweets from individuals which have been aimed at anyone who classes themselves as a Muslim - all because a small handful of barbaric, twisted individuals feel the need to commit atrocious acts in the name of a God they incorrectly believe they're serving

"My son's soccer coach pulled me aside after practice to tell me Tristan had a breakdown. 'Or something like that,' he said. 'He started crying so he sat out for a bit.'
Tristan stood next to me as the coach spoke. He looked at the ground and sheepishly kicked the grass with his cleats.
We got in the car to drive home. I sat there for a bit, knowing that I needed to say something, but not sure what. As a father of a boy, there was a part of me that wanted to tell him to toughen up. To stop this BS and play the game like a man.
I assumed that's what the coach wanted me to do.
Every father since the history of ever has been faced with this decision.
But the thing is, that's what I was always told when I was ten. Not by my father. He wasn't around. I was told that by coaches and other fathers. I was already strong enough to face things without a dad, so 'toughen up talk' didn't make me feel stronger. It made me feel weaker.
It made me quit.
'I'm going to buy you an ice cream cone,' I said. Tristan looked up at me with tearful eyes. 'But it's under one condition. You have to tell me everything that happened. EVERYTHING. And you have to listen to my advice.'
He started talking as we drove. He told me that he couldn't get the ball during some drill, and how all the other boys could get it, and they were better than him. 'I've been playing for five years and I haven't gotten any better,' he said. 'I just want to quit soccer.'
We were at McDonald's then, eating ice cream. I told him how I quit sports as a kid because of all that, and I wish I hadn't. 'It's not about being the best right there and then,' I said. 'It's about growth. It's about showing up and trying, really trying. It's about gaining skills. Your whole life will be like this: sports, school, work, family. It's all about showing up and trying. Sometimes I feel like I'm not getting any better at this whole dad thing. But I keep showing up and trying. Life is like that.'
He took a bite of his one dollar cone. He thought about what I said.
'Does that

"George's vehicle was having problems when we got to Fontana Dam. The nearest automotive parts store was in Bryson City about 30 miles away. We prayed before we left that we could get back safely and get the part. We got a few miles down the road and it died. We had only been sitting here 15-20 minutes when NC State Trooper Kosal Thach stopped . He asked if he could look at the problem. We had already called several automotive parts stores and no one had the part. He was very familiar with this motor because he had a truck with the same engine. Trooper Thach left us, went home, took the part we needed off of his truck and gave it to us so we could get going. We will send him a new part when we get home. Thank the Lord for answered prayers. Thank the Lord for dedicated Police Officers willing to go above and beyond the normal call of duty."

“On my flight Tuesday, I walked down the jetway behind a woman in uniform (Army). A man stood up from his 1st class seat and said, 'Sorry ma'am, I'm in your seat.'

'What does your ticket say?' He asked.

She replied, 'What? No - I'm 31 B.'

He walked away, leaving her with his first class seat and then took her middle seat in coach.

Spoiler alert, he refused my offer. Do good. Recognize good. Make the world better."

My son Jack has autism. He is eighteen.

In July Jack moved into a residential space. He takes classes at a nearby college.

We decided his first year away wasn’t about academics. It was about finding out if our son could live away from us.

Every week he bakes for the other students and staff in his residence.

He chooses a recipe.

He makes a list.

He goes to the grocery store and puts the ingredients in his cart.

Today he made spider cookies.

This boy Jack.

He is building a life for himself.

Food. Fellowship. Community.

To say I never imagined this day would come is a tremendous understatement.

The year of Jack. Indeed.

As the world fights to figure everything out, I'll be holding doors for strangers, letting people cut in front of me in traffic, saying good morning, keeping babies entertained in grocery lines, stopping to talk to someone who is lonely, tipping generously, waving at police, sharing food, giving children a thumbs-up, being patient with sales clerks, smiling at passersby, and buying a stranger a cup of coffee.
WHY? Because I will not stand to live in a world where love is invisible.
Join me in showing kindness, understanding, and judging less.
Be kind to a stranger, give grace to friends who are having a bad day, be forgiving with yourself.

Dep. Corey Loftis was dispatched to a residence in reference to a boy with autism who was severely agitated. The mother knew "Bubba" loved officers so she called for a deputy to respond to her house.

When Dep. Loftis showed up, he was able to calm "Bubba" down and showed him how to channel his frustration by doing "PUSH-UPS"!!! The mother advised, "Bubba was laughing before Dep. Loftis left, which at the time I thought was impossible!"

Christy Richardson, who is Bubba's mother, stated, "I can't thank Officer Loftis enough for being so caring through it all."

"He did what most of us as parents would do or think about doing in a situation like this. Many are calling him a hero and I for one agree."

In October 2020, John Eisenman's teenage daughter went missing — and he soon found that she'd been taken by a sex-trafficking ring in Seattle. So not only did he track her down and rescue her from sexual slavery, he then sought vengeance. According to Spokane police, the enraged father hunted down his daughter's boyfriend, who allegedly sold her for $1,000. Eisenman abducted 19-year-old Andrew Sorensen, bound and gagged him, then stuffed him into the trunk of his car. Then Eisenman hit Sorensen over the head with a cinderblock and stabbed him to death before abandoning the vehicle with the body still in the trunk.

"In the early hours of Thursday morning my boyfriend and I were out in minus (weather) conditions waiting for the train station gates to open, only to realise we would have to wait 4 hours for them to open. In our drunken state we had gotten confused and missed the last train. After waiting for a while it's getting pretty nippy. Only for a voice from behind me to say 'You can burrow my coat and duvet if you want? It's a long wait and it's freezing tonight' I turn round and see Joey for the first time. I jump straight under the duvet and thank Joey for his kind offer as Taylor gives me the look 😂
Yes he was "homeless" but after spending the past 5 days with Joey I despise even considering him as "homeless" Joey is our friend, and he was just down on luck. After Taylor and I sat with Joey waiting for our train, there was just something about him that was so sincere I couldn't leave him out there on his own. No one deserves to be out in these conditions. I'm not saying that you should trust everyone you meet on a street corner, but who exactly should you trust? Because Joey was "homeless" people were quick to judge and even though I do understand why people panic, but why should it be that way? Why have we let it get this way? It doesn't need to be this way. We are all the same, the same beginning the same end. Just some people carry more paper than the next in between. Just because someone is "homeless" it doesn't make them any less of a person than me or you and it doesn't mean that all "homeless" people are drug or alcohol abusers, not all homeless people should be instantly tarnished as bad people. They are just like me and you.
I told Joey that I refused to leave without him, at first he declined in dismay at the offer of coming back home with my boyfriend and I to have a good night kip, a shower and shave and a good old meal. He thought I was joking.. I really wasn't. It took Taylor to explain that if you don't come with us I'm not going to get her home. Joey finally accepted. We get a cab home and much to

Abraham is originally from Sierra Leone in West Africa and was adopted by Jamie Walker and Joe Walker in October 2021. He's never had a birthday celebration, so his family decided to hold one for him.

On May 19, Jamie Walker walked out carrying an extra special cake for Abraham's first birthday since they adopted him and brought him to America.

In a video Jamie shared on Facebook, the family is seen gathered in the kitchen as they start singing Abraham a happy birthday.

The camera pans to Abraham, who was clearly in awe upon seeing the very first birthday cake he'd had in his life. Covering his mouth with his hands, he broke down in sobs as his sisters record his reaction with their phones.

"We never knew about something called a birthday," he said.

As Jamie set down the cake, the sixth-grader suddenly got up and ran over to his dad and gave him a hug. Everyone asked him to make a wish, but the celebrant was just overcome with emotion. He also gave Jamie a long embrace, still crying happy tears over the sweet gesture, before finally blowing out the candles.

"What a gift He is," Jamie wrote on Facebook. "What a gift this moment was. Incredibly simple yet wholly significant. As it unfolded it dawned on me that Abraham would have no idea what 'make a wish' meant so we let him have a redo."

The Walkers adopted Abraham and his older brother, James, in October 2021. Joe first met them when he took a trip to Sierra Leone with a friend who opened an orphanage there.

"It was their 10-year anniversary. And I wanted to go play with the kids. I wanted to see what was all about," Joe said.

The couple soon began sponsoring James and communicated with him over Skype every month. Unfortunately, six months later, James was forced out of the orphanage.

Joe wanted to keep in touch with him, so he got him a phone. They were able to meet Abraham when James returned to his village.

For a month, the Walkers FaceTimed the brothers every day.

"We knew that if they didn't get back to the orphanage they

"I was blessed to be raised by the man on the left, my Daddy. Who has taught me things, mostly when I didn't want to listen, and so many more things that he never had to say because he lived his way in a way that showed me. Lord knows we have had our differences but he is the parent every child deserves to have. 3 daughters, a wife, and built a business from the ground up so we could have a mom who stayed home with us, braces and private school all the while never missing a ball game or dance recital. And he never failed to teach us about the most Important relationship we would ever have, the one we could have with the Lord. And now 37 years after becoming a father at 19, he travels all the way from TN to schlep all over New York City so that 2 little girls can have a weekend full of making memories with their Papa. This Fathers Day, and every other one, I am reminded of what an amazing blessing I got when the Lord decided to give him to me."

A 90 year-old D-Day veteran is set to marry his former fiancée 70 years after they split up due to the PTSD of his wartime experiences.
Roy Vickerman called Nora Jackson's home to apologize for their split and told the taxi driver to wait outside for a few minutes while he presented her with a bunch of flowers.
Nora threw her arms around Roy as soon as she saw him and now, a year later, the couple have celebrated their engagement at Roy's 90th birthday party
The couple first met in 1940 at school in Bucknall, Stoke on Trent and soon became engaged, but the outbreak of war interrupted their plans.
The couple was reunited after Roy spoke about Nora on a local radio show and the host helped find her address.
Not knowing if Nora had a husband and not wishing to upset her, he simply planned to give her some flowers, apologise for the way their affair had ended, and then leave.
"Nora came to the door and put her arms around me and gave me a kiss. Four hours later, I had to tell the taxi driver I was staying."
"I knew him straight away, but I never thought I would see him again," Nora said. "It was a shock to see him, because it had been such a long time, but it was lovely. It was just like old times."
After reuniting, the original engagement ring is back on Nora's finger..
