Those reddish-brown tracks under the eyes are super common in English Bulldogs. Their flat face and tight facial folds mean tears don't drain as easily and the wet fur stains.

It can get worse with allergies, blocked tear ducts, or irritated folds. If eyes are red, goopy, or your bulldog paws at them, it's not just cosmetic.

Daily: gently wipe under eyes with a soft dry cloth, keep face folds dry, and keep the area clean after meals. Don't use harsh whitening products near eyes.

If staining is sudden, one-sided, very smelly, or eyes look cloudy or painful, get a vet eye check. Keeping eyes clean and folds dry prevents a lot of irritation.

Constant paw licking, chewing, or reddish paws in a bulldog is rarely just a habit — it's often allergies.

English Bulldogs are one of the most allergy-prone breeds. Environmental allergens and food sensitivities can show up as itchy paws, face rubbing, ear infections, and skin redness.

Signs: licking front paws for minutes, brown saliva stains, red between toes, rubbing face on rug, recurring ear issues.

What helps: wipe paws after walks, keep bedding clean, flea prevention year-round, and track when it flares (seasonal vs year-round). Keep a simple log of foods and itch days to show your vet.

Don't try to diagnose with home remedies or give allergy meds on your own. If skin looks raw, swollen, or smells, get a vet check — chronic licking can lead to secondary infections. Relief is possible with the right plan.

Two extra pounds on a bulldog isn't a little extra love — it's a lot of extra stress.

Bulldogs are stocky and already prone to joint issues and breathing effort. Extra weight makes both worse. It also makes them overheat faster because obese dogs have less efficient panting and higher body temps even in cool rooms.

Ideal check: you should feel ribs easily with light pressure, see a waist from above, and a tummy tuck from the side.

What helps: measure kibble with a cup (don't free-pour), limit high-calorie treats, short frequent walks not long hot ones, and keep muscle with gentle play. Small consistent changes beat crash diets.

If your bulldog pants heavily, struggles to get up, or tires fast, ask your vet for a healthy weight goal. Keeping lean is one of the kindest things you can do for joints, breathing, and heat safety.

Seeing a red, fleshy bump in the corner of your bulldog's eye? That's often a pr*****ed third eyelid gland — commonly called cherry eye.

English Bulldogs are more prone because of their facial structure and connective tissue. The gland that helps make tears slips out and looks swollen and red. It can cause dryness and irritation if left alone.

It won't go away with eye drops from home. Don't try to push it back yourself.

What to do: note when it appeared, if it's one or both eyes, and if there's discharge or pawing. Then see your vet. They can explain options to protect tear production and eye comfort long-term.

Early checks matter for comfort and vision. If the eye looks painful, swollen shut, or vision seems off, seek care promptly.
