A late night storm in the Harbor Area continues to wreak havoc on San Pedro traffic this afternoon.

The storm is believed to have damaged a power pole located near the 110 South at Gaffey Street exit causing the pole to tilt and the power lines to fall to the ground around 9 am this morning.

The CHP issued a Sig Alert shortly after, shutting down the 110 freeway from Channel Street to Gaffey.

Traffic is currently backed up from 1st and Gaffey to O'farrell Street where vehicles are being diverted Eastbound.

Most side streets North of 1st Street are backed up with moderate to heavy traffic.

DWP is currently working on the situation and the 110 remains closed at Gaffey as of 5pm.

The heavy winds and rain overnight were also responsible for knocking out power in some areas and damaging a large sign at the Chase Bank on Pacific Ave.

Hahn Issues Statement on Increased ICE Activity in Long Beach

Long Beach, CA -- Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn issued the following statement after at least nine people were detained by masked ICE agents at workplaces across Long Beach today.

“ICE is continuing to terrorize our communities and they hit Long Beach hard today. They are not communicating with local law enforcement, and we know they are not targeting violent criminals. They are targeting people based on the color of their skin, or their accent, or the place that they work. They are violating our residents’ rights every day they remain on our streets. They are creating chaos and spreading fear in our immigrant community, and they need to leave.

Tomorrow, I will unveil an ordinance barring all law enforcement, including ICE from concealing their identities. This is how an authoritarian’s secret police operate – not legitimate law enforcement in a democracy.”

No Kings, No Fear
Indivisible Calls America to Peaceful Action on October 18

By Ezra Levin, Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director, Indivisible and

Peter Warren, Indivisible San Pedro

This is an answer to the Trump administration's lies about Indivisible, and it is a call to action. We are a peaceful, people-powered movement challenging the administration’s authoritarian actions against the people of the United States.

We are courageous activists organizing in every state and nearly every congressional district — red, blue, and purple. We’re in the cities Trump is invading and the rural areas he promised to fight for, but now attacks.

There is nothing an authoritarian fears more than peaceful, organized people power. That’s why the White House is now turning its sights on us.https://wp.me/p3AltZ-iV

No Kings, No Fear -Indivisible rejects Trump’s false claims, reaffirming peaceful resistance and urging nationwide unity at the Oct. 18 “No Kings” protests.
