The Community Media Center of Marin (CMCM) strives to educate and advance the way residents, schools, and governments connect and strengthen our communities through media. The Community Media Center of Marin is a non-profit organization that was established to support, manage, produce, and distribute the widest possible range of noncommercial community-based media content and programs. This includ

es facilitating and managing the public, educational and governmental cable channels available on local Comcast and AT&T systems. CMCM’s purpose is to encourage and support the use of public, educational, and government access cable channels and resources among a broad range of individuals, organizations, and institutions within Marin County and to facilitate the use of the PEG access channels as a public forum to promote a free exchange of ideas, information, and creative expression. CMCM will fulfill this role by establishing, operating, and maintaining media production facilities and equipment at a Community Media Center and by providing the necessary services and resources needed to produce programming and content.

We've been channel slammed!

If you are tuning into to Comcast Channel 26 hoping to find the Marin TV Community Channel which has been there for 25+ years, surprise, it is no longer there. As of Tuesday Comcast moved us to channel 24 and replaced our channel with KTSF26 the largest Asian-language and Chinese Mandarin / Cantonese broadcast station in the US. Though today it looks like this - a program length informercial selling gold/silver.

We're not sure if this channel slam is entirely legal under current state cable franchise regulations, but we are certain that doing this without any prior notice is . . . well, a lousy thing to do. If it stays in place every piece of printed material, many station ID's and other media content will have to be changed - a burdensome and unnecessary expense. So for now - if you are looking for Marin TV's Community Channel and Democracy Now!, tune into Channel 24.
