Sound Legacy and Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly Launch Intergenerational Podcast Project to Preserve the Voices of Older Adults
San Francisco, CA, February 3, 2026 – Stories connect us. Now they’re being recorded for generations to come. Sound Legacy has partnered with Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly to launch a new intergenerational podcast initiative that trains volunteers to capture and preserve the life stories of older adults, transforming connection into a lasting legacy.
Last October, Sound Legacy Co-Founder Andrew Couch led an immersive, hands-on training with three LBFE volunteers, teaching interviewing, recording, and editing skills. Within hours, the team was prepped for the field. The volunteers then partnered with LBFE community members Shessa and Janey N to record deeply personal reflections for a two-episode pilot. Couch also recorded a conversation with LBFE Executive Director Cathy Michalec about the vision behind the collaboration.
“Listening is an act of love,” said Couch. “When we take the time to hear and record another person’s story, we’re preserving something vital that connects us all.
“The Sound Legacy project is so important as it gives voice to a population that loses its voice as it ages,” said Michalec. “This partnership creates space for older adults to be heard, valued, and remembered, while building meaningful connections across generations.”
The series blends LBFE’s mission of relieving loneliness and isolation with Sound Legacy’s expertise in storytelling, creating a powerful platform where lived experience becomes community memory.
The pilot podcast series launches Thursday, February 5, with new episodes released weekly on February 12 and February 19. Episodes are available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other major streaming platforms.
