This one is a long time coming, and I've been sitting on it because it deserves to be told right. 🙌🏾

As we approach this church family's 105th Anniversary this upcoming Sunday, I wanted to share something that still humbles me every time I think about it: we closed on a piece of property this church originally owned back before 1940 — now returned home to their portfolio after all these years. For a church with 105 years of history in this community, that's not just a real estate transaction. It's a homecoming.

On June 19, 1865 — two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation — the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free. Today we celebrate that freedom, honor the resilience of those who carried us here, and recommit to building a future worthy of their sacrifice.

🎉 LEASE SIGNED — Lower Dimond District, Oakland, CA!

I have to share this one because it's a perfect example of why representation matters.

Before my client found me, they had already tried to lease this very space on their own. The Landlord declined the application. They spent the next few months looking at other locations — but nothing felt right. Something kept pulling them back to that original space.

When they came to me, I knew exactly what we needed to do.

We built a thorough, professional business and financial package that told their full story — the vision, the track record, the readiness. Then I went to the Listing Broker and advocated for a reconsideration.

The Owner said yes. We negotiated terms that work in my client's favor. Lease signed. ✅

🎉 LEASE SIGNED — San Francisco, CA!

I am so excited to celebrate this WIN with my client — a nonprofit organization with three existing locations throughout San Francisco — who just leased their FOURTH space, complete with an option to purchase!

Here's the real story: we spent two months negotiating a different space, and at the last minute, it didn't work out. My client was understandably frustrated. I kept encouraging them — "When it's for you, it will be for you." (I'll be honest, they weren't quite as sure. LOL!)

But we stayed the course. Two months later, a better opportunity came along — one that not only met their needs but gave them a path toward ownership. That's a legacy move for any nonprofit.

I am deeply grateful for the trust my clients place in me, especially through the tough moments. Watching organizations grow their footprint and deepen their community impact is the most rewarding part of this work.
