✨Flower farm coming summer 2026✨
Just a mom trying to raise some kids like it’s 1955
I traded a career for a homestead so now I spend my days tending to free range chickens with bread rising in the kitchen, jars in the canner and a baby on my hip.

First off, I was doing it before it was cool haha

But I didn’t choose to homestead because of cute baby goats or because someone I follow online told me to.

I decided to pursue this lifestyle when I realized the system was not designed for the wellbeing of the people.

I knew if I wanted my family taken care of, we had to start taking care of ourselves and make it our mission to rely less on the system.

And all these years later, it’s still the goal.

The cute baby animals are just a bonus. 😉

Wanna know something embarrassing?

For the past six months or so I’ve been buying eggs from the store because our chickens have been eating their own eggs.

After doing some trial and error, here are a few things I did that finally seemed to help:

1. Collected eggs 2-3 times a day
2. Fed them more protein and calcium
3. Filled some eggs with mustard
4. Added more bedding to the nesting boxes so the shells wouldn’t break as easily

I’m not sure if it was a combination of these things or one in particular that did the trick, but we suddenly started getting tons of eggs again.

In fact, we’re getting so many eggs I had to start selling them again. 😅
