My 7-year-old daughter found this while tending her pigs today. It's part of an almost 8 year breeding project to select a quality,disease-resistant, small-sized hog that thrives on a forrage diet. This litter has genetics from Hungaria, Romania, Serbia, Russia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Southern U.S. all wound into one.

This is Symphytum officinale, common comfrey. I take it medicinally for carpal tunnel and back pain. My doctor told me it's too dangerous because a report in the 80s concluded that it may have a side effect. I nearly died from taking Aspirin, and had several of the serious side effects listed on the label. Comfrey has done me well for years. Yet, my doctor says it's not safe and regularly recommends Aspirin to his patients. What's up with that?

Apologies to all, I know orders are still behind. Work is demanding, my wife is on bed rest, and we're trying to finish the home addition before the baby comes. With a little luck, I'll be home by 9pm (14 hour work day) and can catch up tonight.

The recent delay in shipments is due to unforseen predator problems. In the last week, we lost 10 chickens to raccoons, and apparently a snapping turtle. I've been setting traps and on all-night sentry duty. Last night, I heard clucking and ran to find 2 raccoons in the hen house. They seem to have learned how to open the door latch. Hopefully that was the last of them, but we did loose an entire coop of hens plus the rooster.
