20 years ago today…… I know DJ Cygnus spent a lot of time down there in the aftermath. I also have another listener who spent some time there as part of the federal response. I was involved in directly transporting inmates from Louisiana to the prison in Huntsville by ambulance…. This video was actually taken at a flood relief concert in Florida, but it’s about Katrina…. We should never forget what happened 20 years ago, and we should strive to be better at our response to natural disasters.

First off, I want to thank those that attended our 10th Anniversary Soiree last Saturday. It was a fun time!
So this Saturday, the Gumbo Rush Hour returns!! DJ Cygnus and his lovely bride are heading West to celebrate their anniversary (Congrats you two lovebirds). The first hour we'll be celebrating National Beach Day as well as the second anniversary of Jimmy's passing (that goes together like sun and sand). Then, since the Rocinante is out west, I will stripping away the old debris, and taking out the Red Barchetta to commit my weekly crime hosting The Rush Hour. We will be celebrating the last Rush concert played in Houston in 2015 along with other bands that came through Houston that year. So tune in to 96.9FM KMRD-LP at 3PM MT/4PM GCT to spend a couple hours of great music and memories.

Today we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of KMRD at the Madrid ballpark with a birthday festival runs from noon to nine and we encourage you to come out. I will be working the first aid tent so if you wanna stop by and say hi, please do… On my show, we are celebrating National Aviation Day, which happened on Wednesday, which is one of my favorite subjects besides music… For those that don’t know, aviation photography is a hobby of mine…. so if you aren’t at the festival, tune in on 96.9 FM at 3 PM MT/4 PM GCT
