"COAST-ing the Scary Skies" {Fall-ing in Love with Autumn} (Episode 13)
Location: Downtown, Sandusky, Ohio
Date: October, Fall 2025
Narrative:
Arriving at the Meigs street I took my walk along the pier until I arrived at its edge. To my left is a narrow walkway which leads to a boat outlet, and to my right is long strip where many Sandusky Natives are corralling some of Lake Erie's best aquatic vertebrates. Feeling I was close enough I placed my aerial companion about 6ft from where I was standing. A double tap of the power button and the controller is now powered up. Assertively the aircraft takes to the windy skies. "Hmm...probably should have checked the wind speed for today." "Mmm...I'm sure it will be fine" I said to myself. Traversing the skies I made a beeline for America's roller coast. Calmly enjoying the flight, I would occasionally look at the morning fisherman and fisherwomen pointing at the craft from a distance. 2000 meters later I arrive at what I believed was the preferred distance. After capturing a few shots...I was startled by a warning from the controller. (LOW BATTERY WARNING!!...RETURN TO HOME!!) Puzzled....I looked at the controller. "Is it a malfunction?" I said to myself. It's has like 47% left. Taking a look at my phone I noticed the winds had dramatically increased.
Not taking any changes I made my journey back to the pier. Now 1800 meters away, gust from the wind and I had to adjust my hat as it nearly blows off.
(LOW BATTERY WARNING!!...RETURN TO HOME!!) Battery level:...35%........................34%.........................33% "Battery level is discharging pretty fast." are my thoughts.
Now 1200 Meters away ...(LOW BATTERY WARNING!!...RETURN TO HOME!!) 900 Meters away. ....28%..................27%.................26%. (LOW BATTERY WARNING) RETURN TO HOME! "C'Mon...you can do it." I thought to myself.
Battery Level:...23%..................22%.................21%. "This might be a photo finish." I say to myself. Slowly the winds calm and It safely arrive above the pier. Slowly landing where I took off, I take a deep breath and thank the creator that the air craft captured its visual treasure and survived to tell the tale.
