Daniel is our newest Everyday Hero!

Daniel has been on our lifeguarding team for multiple seasons and has never failed to show his dedication to the craft! His wholehearted commitment to every pool he works at has been seen and appreciated! This past week his hark work paid off when he needed to perform a rescue on a struggling swimmer. Daniel acted on his training and resolved the situation before it could become more dangerous.

Daniel is a great role model for our younger guards and a perfect example of what we look for in our Everyday Heroes! Let's show him our appreciation in the comments!

Let's hear it for our latest Everyday Hero, Lena!

Lena is one of our most experienced lifeguards, who's work ethic and dedication have not gone unnoticed! The patrons at her pools are some of the luckiest to have her there! A couple weeks ago, Lena performed a land resuce on a patron who needed first aid on the pool deck after falling over. Her quick acting helped to avoid further injury to the patron! We are so thankful for Lena's hard work on our staff every year, she is someone every young lifeguard should look up to!

🛟 Drowning is fast, silent, and preventable

Today on National Drowning Prevention Day, we’re shining a light on a heartbreaking truth. Drowning is the number one cause of death for children ages 1 to 4 in the United States.

Even more alarming, approximately half of Americans lack basic swimming skills.

At Sears Pool, we believe every person should know how to be safe in and around water. Through our support of the Greater Atlanta Water Safety Alliance (GAWSA), we help make that possible by offering swim lesson scholarships to families who cannot afford them.

Let's hear it for Gabi, our newest Everyday Hero!

Gabi is a stellar lifeguard with a strong work ethic! She is new to the team this year, but brings a considerable amount of poise and professionalism to every pool she works at. Additionally, Gabi made a save on an active drowing victim a couple weeks ago! She is a true hero and a great example for all of our lifeguards!

Give it up for our newest Everyday Hero, Emma!

Emma is one of our most attentive and hardworking lifeguards, not to mention this is her rookie season! She is always going the extra mile to deliver quality lifegaurding to the pool! Emma is always asking the right questions to deepen her understanding of the craft, and she even made a save on a young distressed swimmer a couple weeks ago! She is a great example of what we look for in our Everyday Heroes and all of our lifeguards!

Let's hear it for our latest Everyday Hero: Talia!

Talia is one of our first year lifeguards, but she has quickly proven herself to be an excellent addition to the SPMC team! She is hardworking, attentive and never afraid to ask questions to better her lifeguarding knowledge. Talia's hard work and attentiveness to the job paid off when she made a save on a young distressed swimmer a couple weeks ago! She is a great example of what we look for in a Sears lifeguard and an Everyday Hero!

Our next every day hero is Maggie!

Maggie has been an SPMC guard for many years and has never failed to impress us! Her attitude and attentiveness to the job is unmatched! Recently she made a save on a young swimmer and, thanks to her quick acting, avoided a drowning. Maggie's preparedness is a great example of what we look for in Sears Pool lifeguards!

Our newest Every Day Hero is Colter Landon!

Colter brings a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism to the team, and he does so with a smile on his face! Additionally, Colter recently performed a rescue on a young swimmer who was in distress!

By acting quickly on his training, Colter was able to handle the situation before any disaster could take place.

Congratulations to our latest Everyday Hero: Addison!

Addison is a first year lifeguard who has quickly proven herself to be a resourceful, attentive and hardworking guard. A few weeks ago she performed a rescue on a young swimmer in distress during her first lifeguarding shift! Addison embodies what it means to be a Sears Pool lifeguard and an Everyday Hero!

Today's hero is Paul DeMello, who courageously bears the weight of unimaginable tragedy in the loss of his twin boys to drowning. Paul started JACD (Just Against Children Drowning) JACD Just Against Children Drowning to raise awareness and reduce drowning as a leading cause of death. Thank you for your heroic efforts, Paul!

From integrating human psychology into lifeguard scanning techniques, to improving lifeguard stand design, to elevating awareness of underwater hypoxic blackout, to creating drowning prevention and lifeguard performance enhancement initiatives, to his work as an expert witness and aquatic consultant, Dr. Tom Griffiths is an industry pioneer and icon. We were pleased to catch up with Dr. Tom at this year's AOAP/NDPA conference in St. Pete, Florida. Cheers to you, Tom!
