Sanibel Island residents & visitors are invited to come together for a great cause!

Join the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation for the annual International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, September 19, from 9–11 a.m.

Volunteers will be collecting trash from beaches across Sanibel and Captiva, helping protect our coastal habitat and keep our island waters cleaner and healthier. Whether you live here, visit often, or simply love these islands, this is a wonderful way to give back.

After the cleanup, volunteers are invited to enjoy an Ice Cream Social at the Bailey Homestead.

This morning, Sanibel came together for the City of Sanibel’s Waves of Remembrance ceremony honoring the 25th anniversary of September 11.

It was a powerful morning of remembrance, reflection, service, and unity. The 2,977 flags in the Field of Heroes served as a reminder that every life lost represented a family, a story, and a place in our nation’s history.

Grateful to have been part of this special Sanibel gathering.

September is here, and sea turtle nesting season is slowly winding down—but there are still plenty of tiny flippers on the way!

No new nests were laid this week, with the most recent nest being a loggerhead nest laid in late August. Approximately 200 nests are still incubating on Sanibel’s beaches, so we may have many more hatchlings to cheer on.

So far this season:

28,741 hatchlings have made it to sea
511 were green sea turtle hatchlings
374 nests were depredated by coyotes
Help give these little travelers their best chance by keeping beaches clean, dark, and obstacle-free.

Grateful to SCCF and its dedicated sea turtle team for protecting Sanibel’s sea turtles and keeping our community informed throughout nesting season.

The sunrise sale on sanibel was a blast!!

With 49 Sanibel shops participating, there were fun sales, special events, delicious food and drinks, and lots of smiling faces all around the island. Pajamas were encouraged and we had a blast with special discounts, flag giveaways, a make-and-take beach bag charm table, and even a pop-up tattoo shop!
