Filmmaker Meetup is a gathering space at TV Santa Barbara for all kinds of creators—filmmakers, photographers, musicians, and artists of every audiovisual discipline—who want to showcase their work and connect with others who are also beginning their journey in the worlds of audiovisual media, communication, and entertainment.

At these meetups, every type of creation is welcome: short films, photography, sketches, musical compositions, and more. The works come from students, young professionals, and freelancers who are seeking to make their way in this competitive and complex industry.

Last month, TVSB’s Salinas Street Studio came alive with conversation, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of tacos and pizza. The occasion? A warm and welcoming meet-and-greet for our Board of Directors.

The afternoon brought together long-time board members, staff, and interns, offering the perfect opportunity to introduce our newest board members to the TVSB community. Over refreshing beverages and delicious food, ideas were shared, stories exchanged, and connections formed.

The relaxed atmosphere was a vivid reminder of the creative spirit and collaborative energy that power TVSB. With our seasoned members and fresh additions working side by side, we’re looking forward to an inspiring year ahead—one filled with new perspectives, bold ideas, and a shared dedication to our mission.

Located in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, The Community Environmental Council operates out of The Hub, a modern and welcoming community space. Among its many initiatives is the Lunch and Learn series for the employees, where the doors are opened to local nonprofits and community partners to share knowledge, resources and inspiration.

During a recent Lunch and Learn conversation, our Executive Director, Erik Davis, gave a dynamic presentation introducing TVSB to the council. This month on the 805 Focus, Dr. Natalie Sanderson, Executive Director of Casa del Herrero, joined host Cynder Sinclair, Ph.D, to talk about this hidden Montecito gem designed by renown architect George Washington Smith which has been meticulously preserved for 100 years and stands as one of the finest examples of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture in America.

Time for Fun In The Sun at TV Santa Barbara!
Between June and July the station supports Fun in the Sun (FITS), the summer learning program organized by United Way of Santa Barbara County.
FITS is an award-winning summer learning program that was started in 1997 in order to address the “summer learning loss” as stated by United Way.
During three days, the participants of FITS have been instructed in the very basic principles of Television Production and they love it! Camera and sound work, podcast and show production and even image and photo theory were some of the things taught through the funniest games!
During the FITS visits, our producers Caleb and Hollie took on mentoring roles for some of television's future stars.

TV Santa Barbara was out in the community once again! This Sunday, we attended the Dolphin Derby Festival — a fundraising event organized by Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise. The Dolphin Derby is a fun-filled event at Chase Palm Palk aiming to support local community service projects. By adopting a dolphin with a $10 donation, participants had the chance to compete in a high-stakes dolphin race for a $2,500 prize! This free-entry festival featured delicious food from local vendors, plus music and dancing with DJ Darla Bea and Friends.
