To some they’re paper cards, to others they’re an entire paycheck— or several of them. With the price of Pokémon cards rising, so has the risk of having them on hand. That risk turned into reality for two Stockton shops on the same night. Both were burglarized. Both lost thousands. But, the Stockton shops are not alone. It’s becoming an issue across NorCal and even across the nation.

🦇 A rabid bat has been found in Lodi for the first time in five years, city officials said. I went out to the neighborhood where it was found in someone’s backyard and heard from the guy hired to get the bats out of that person’s home. I also heard from experts who said there’s no reason to be overwhelmingly worried but that it is a good time to be alert and make sure your pets are vaccinated. Also, mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus are back this season as of this week, which has local public health officials sending another animal-related safety message.

A 28-year-old man is being checked out at a hospital after allegedly stealing a Sacramento Police car and driving it miles away into the city of Lodi. The wild chase ended at Highway 99 and Turner Road. Video from traffic cameras shows the suspect weaving in and out of lanes and driving faster than the traffic around him. Sac PD says it tried to do some PIT maneuvers earlier on in the chase. While it ended peacefully, police say they are investigating how this happened to try to prevent it from happening again.

Two Stockton card shops are out thousands of dollars each after a set of early morning burglaries where a burglar appeared to target expensive and rare Pokémon cards. Both cases happened Wednesday morning and in both cases, the burglar was in and out within a minute after breaking through the lock on the front door. Police tell me they’re now investigating. They haven’t made any arrests and haven’t confirmed that the two cases are related, but shop owners say the burglaries are shockingly similar and could be connected to more that have been happening throughout the state.

More than four days later the Medline warehouse in the outskirts of Tracy was still technically burning Monday. Demolition has begun, but eight firefighters continued shooting water onto the million-square-foot facility. The situation is much different than last week, though. The deputy fire chief in Tracy told me it’s like when you have a bonfire and the main fire goes out, but you still have to put water on the coals. TFD and the ATF are still investigating how the fire started and why the interior sprinklers weren’t working. Warehouse employees told me they’re still getting their normal pay and those working that day got an extra $500.
Today, I heard updates from fire officials, investigators, the county public health director, the city of Tracy and warehouse employees. Here’s what I learned.

Night fell and day came, but this huge Medline warehouse fire in Tracy has respected no clock. More than 24 hours after it first ignited, the fire is still burning, spreading that thick blanket of smoke that can be seen for miles. Here’s the latest info learning.

If you work at Medline in Tracy, you may want to look at this. A lot of people on social media have been wondering if their cars burned during the huge ongoing fire at Tracy’s Medline facility. I was able to get an up close look at the parking lot. Several cars seem to be okay, but some have burned.

They took the day off work, pulled the kids out of daycare and canceled their afternoon plans just do be able to watch Game 1 of the World Cup— that’s what several people told me at multiple watch parties across Stockton.

As firefighters are still working to contain that massive fire at a Tracy Medline warehouse, officials are starting to share more about the challenges they faced. Fire officials say the on-site sprinklers appeared to malfunction and although city hydrants were fine, warehouse hydrants had low pressure. Crews are expected to stay on scene all night.
