Book Summary:
At the height of expectant emotion, the princess bent to kiss her prince. Eyes closed, full of hope for the future, she committed herself to this man in prince’s clothing. He’d been the one, the tall, dark and handsome one who came into her life, riding a new Hawaiian blue Mustang to sweep her off her feet with all the right words and dating techniques. The fantasy complete, vows behind them, the princess reveled in her defiance to warnings from friends and family. Until one day she awoke to find the prince was but a frog in man’s clothing. Her eyes opened by control, confusion and conflict, happy ever after never realized.
Before you kiss the frog, let’s talk. Let’s talk about choices that make your future healthier. Walk with me through a biblically based decision tree and not rely on aroused feelings and sensations that can lead us astray. I’d like to provoke some discussion regarding these ideas floating in my head, threatening my sanity if they don’t get expressed. Have you ever had something you were dying to tell a friend? Let’s talk, friend. Let’s talk about what makes someone a good prospect for a robust, lasting emotional and spiritual tie. Let’s talk about the frogs in prince’s and/or princess’ clothing. Let’s talk about trying to make that frog turn into your dream relationship. Can I reach you? Can I help you avoid the kingdom of tears, the stuff of my years and more than I would like to own up to?
Let me share what I’ve discovered of the pitfalls and hurtful episodes I encountered. I’m not here to make decisions for you, or to tell you how to live your life. I’ll just ask questions. I’ll talk about how I worked things out for myself, with God’s healing and gracious help. I’ll leave you to think about how to answer these questions for yourself. I’m much like you. Though I’ve earned some initials to follow my name, they aren’t in counseling or philosophy. I’m not a professional counselor. I’m a discussion leader. I’ve worked as a divorce and recovery leader in two established ministry programs at my church for over a decade. So, let’s talk. I mean, can we talk, heart-to-heart, openly and honestly? - Joy S Taylor
