The studio is really full these days. Even though I’m quiet here, there is a lot going on. For the Band, we are working on doing some open mic nights at local venues. A five minute session is not very much, so you have to nail it. Plus, I’ve been learning to use the modern technology in terms of pioneer gear. You can see I bought a cheapo pioneer controller so I could learn rekordbox (what a POS). I’ve also been moving the visual show from my super computer onto the new laptop. That took about a week longer than expected. And lastly, I am DJing and DJing at my very first festival at the end of the month. Fam Jam, here I come!

I saw the Broadway musical “MJ“ last night, and it was awesomer than awesome. The musical arrangement was fantastic and the performers were all absolutely top level. It really felt like we had Michael Jackson on the stage in front of us. The stagecraft was also fantastic— very kinetic, and cool looking. As a side benefit, we had very nice seats in row four, and they gave us free drinks, cookies, and a little snack box because we ourselves are awesome. I ended up eating the snack box for lunch—not the box itself, but the food in the box.

Fair warning, we are getting the band back together this evening for moore funk and soul. Probably about 5:30-ish pm PT....

I’m still out here working! Like I’ve said, I’m more focused these days on musicality and live performance. This is the new-ish PA out for a private event, and what my desk looks like after pulling out the portable mixer—my friend Aaron custom welded this desk for me many many years ago. Still works great. I’m pretty happy with having the live gear and studio gear separate. It makes for a much easier load-in/out. I’m really trying to bring down the load-in time, but it’s still at about 45 minutes for the whole thing. Want to bring that down to 30 minutes. A sound check is pretty much impossible in small venues, so having to do that live, which is pretty hard.
