Thanks for the recognition MovieMaker Magazine!
Santa Fe truly is the best place to live and work for film. Not only do we offer great incentives, we have multiple beautiful movie ranches, state of the art studio and the absolute best film crews.
Congrats to Jennifer LaBar-Tapia at the Santa Fe Film Office for all that you’ve done for our community.

First day of filming and within hours of arriving on set Imogene shined down over the ranch.. her presence was felt by all around!
Her mission was to ensure NM and all “her people” stayed busy filming on Bonanza Creek Ranch and we are making sure her life’s work and legacy continue for years to come.

Imogene Sanders Hughes of Santa Fe, NM met her Lord and Savior on October 4, 2021, at the age of 89 years. Her family; James E. (Barbara) Spaccamonti, Roanna (Jim)Abel, Denise (Brad) Spaccamonti Paglione, all of Pueblo, CO, and Richard (Shannon) Hughes, of Albuquerque, NM, including six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, are saddened to announce her passing. Preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Glenn D. Hughes; and her parents, Ed and Marie Sanders. Her greatest loves were her family and sharing her coveted Christian heritage. Imogene was born in Lenapah, OK, and at age 7, moved to Pueblo, CO where she graduated from Centennial High School. She married James C. Spaccamonti and raised three children while working on family farm. She received her cosmetology license and enjoyed a thriving business. Imogene then moved to Albuquerque, NM to sell real estate. It was there she met Glenn D. Hughes. When Glenn passed away, Imogene moved to Santa Fe full-time and created Bonanza Creek Film Locations, hosting major motion pictures. In 2015, she earned the moniker of “The First Lady of New Mexico Film” by the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival. In 2018, Imogene was also inducted into the New Mexico Film Hall of Fame along with Shirley MacLaine and George R.R. Martin. Her awards and achievements emphasized her leadership which quickly led her to becoming the epitome of a positive role model for women in fine arts and motion pictures in a male dominated industry. She tirelessly championed the film industry with state legislators to produce New Mexico’s economic incentives thus opening doors for more motion picture business to be produced in the state. Imogene’s legacy touched many lives from near and far while finding much joy during her years working with filmmakers -- both established and novice, various recording artists, and local church leaders both in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Imogene had a heart for the young and upcoming film students and as a result a scholarship fund has been set up in her honor. In lieu of flowers or food, we kindly ask that donations be made to the Imogene Hughes Scholarship Fund through the Santa Fe Film Institute.

“News Of The World” Production Designer, David Crank, explains in this article just why New Mexico is so appealing to production companies.
We love our ranch, the movies produced on it and the people in NM who make it possible.

“I think often what can happen with period pieces, as well as Westerns, is they just get kind of fancy—and sometimes, it works for the story. But when you look at pictures from the time perio…
