Have you seen all the chatter online about the Barbault Basket and wondered, "Wait, what?? I thought this week was about the new moon and Mercury retrograde?"

Here's how it all fits together.

The Barbault Basket is a rare, basket-shaped alignment of several planets. French astrologer André Barbault spent decades studying this pattern. It's only occurred a handful of times in the past hundred years, and he tied each occurrence to a real hinge point in history.

Between July 19th and 23rd, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto all park at the same degree of their signs.

These planets connect with growth, invention, imagination, social change, and deep transformation.
Their combined energy can support major changes in how we communicate, build communities, use technology, and imagine the future.

The Barbault Basket points toward major change and new possibilities.

Right now, the sun is in Cancer, tonight's new moon is in Cancer, and Mercury retrograde is in Cancer, all huddling together in the same sign. Cancer rules home, family, emotional security, ancestry, and the places where we feel protected.
Whatever surfaces tonight comes wrapped in old memory, half-finished conversations, things you thought you'd put down for good.

Tonight’s New Moon gives us our starting point. Before you can create something new in the world, you need a stable foundation beneath you. What feels safe to you now? What needs strengthening in your personal life? Where have you outgrown an old emotional pattern?

Retrograde wants you to circle back before you leap ahead. Sitting right on the new moon, it turns this into a night for review, not launch. What keeps coming back around? What still needs saying?
